Elisa’s Thought for the Week

Your brain is a universe.

There’s a theory that because the human brain has anywhere between 60 billion to 100 billion neurons, it could be that we have more little cells bumping around that grey space than there are stars in our Milky Way galaxy.

Or at least a similar amount.

But that isn’t even the most astonishing comparison to make.

When you consider those numbers in the billions for our brain cells, and then multiply it by the 40,000 to 50,000 synapses firing (connections being made between them) at any given second, we have more going on up there than there are stars in the ENTIRE KNOWN UNIVERSE.

What I’m telling you is that there is an entire universe living inside that round appendage at the top of your neck.

And while that is a bit daunting, you gotta admit, it’s pretty cool as well.

So, what are you going to do with your brain-universe this week?
