Switch Weekly - Nintendo: Pokemon are motorbikes now...

Web version · Unsubscribe

Pokemon Presents — August 2022 — Updates on various Pokemon titles, including a closer look at this year's Scarlet and Violet. The co-op mode is pretty appealing, and being able to travel around a Pokemon that resembles a motorbike is a daft bit of fun I can get behind. Here's a text based round-up of everything announced if you'd rather.

Nintendo reports sales decline as Switch hits 111m — Another sales milestone reached, but things are slowing down.

Andy Robinson // VGC

Kirby's 30th anniversary concert will be livestreamed next week — On the 11th to be precise.

Liv Ngan // Eurogamer

REVIEW Digimon Survive — Described as taking "a risk in its gameplay, presentation and narrative". The author explains that this pays off, resulting in something that "genuinely feels like a new era". It's "a more mature, dark, and ferocious Digimon that could see the start of a truly great visual novel RPG hybrid series".

Ted Hazell // Nintendo World Report

REVIEW Hingsight — The author came away from Annapurna Interactive's latest feeling a little frustrated and dissapointed, noting it was "difficult to recommend". Roland Ingram for Nintendo Life was far more positive however, calling it a moving hit that "does what it does with technical and artistic aplomb".

Noelle Warner // Destructoid

REVIEW Frogun — "succeeds in evoking that retro-style puzzle-platforming of the '90s".

Kara Phillips // Nintendo Life

REVIEW South of the Circle

Mike Diver // Gaming Bible

REVIEW Strange Horticulture

Roland Ingram // Nintendo Life

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has brought out the worst in modern spoiler culture — "I shouldn't have to curate my entire existence on the internet in the face of leakers who are uploading entire endings and boss battles for clout".

Jade King // The Gamer

Wholesome games are awkwardly comfortable depicting violence against animals — Fishing in Animal Crossing is given as just one example of "games preaching coziness" that seem "content to depict animal harm".

Mark Delaney // Gamespot

Nintendo summer art features Mario’s nipples, showcasing company’s turn to lascivious decadence — I'll level with ya, I'm just sharing this one for the headline alone.

Amelia Fruzzetti // Nintendo Wire

All releases are digital, Europe & U.S. unless otherwise stated.
