The Eight of Cups leaves anything that is emotionally fulfilling or not fulfilling behind. You are disappointed, but you also know there is no point in hoping anything will be better with a situation, so you end up walking away from it. This can be painful as you were emotionally tied to the thing you stuck to, but you realize it is not serving your highest good. Therefore, you know the best thing to do is to leave it behind. It is painful but necessary. You are sad and disappointed, but it is best to walk away. It can be a relationship that has gone sour or a friendship. Those are hard to let go of but are very necessary. The Eight of Cups can also be indicative of escaping a troubling situation that needs to be dealt with. Or it can signify that you are avoiding a psychological issue that needs to be addressed. Now, let's talk about the history and appearance of the Eight of Cups. The History And Appearance Of The Eight of CupsThe Eight of Cups is a tarot card that symbolizes abandonment or feeling unfulfilled, as you already know. The Eight of Cups can also suggest that someone is ready to move on from a situation. The history of the Eight of Cups is unclear, but it is believed to be of Italian origin. Some believe that the Eight of Cups was created to represent the eight stages of man, while others believe it was created to represent the eight planets in astrology. Regardless of its origins, the Eight of Cups has been powerful, and used symbol for centuries. When you look at the Eight of Cups tarot card in the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, you will see a man walking away from eight dropped cups on the ground. When you look at the cups, you will see that they are dropped in a way where one appears not to be there. That indicates feeling incomplete and unfulfilled. That man walking away turned his back on the cups as you could feel the vibe of loss and disappointment, but at the same time, acceptance that whatever he had wanted didn’t turn out to be the thing that was best for him. You also see a river nearby, which represents emotions, and mountains in the background represent the challenges he will face as he goes on this journey. And you can see a moon illuminating the area, representing that there is perhaps some form of avoidance or escapism. Now, let’s talk about what the Eight of Cups means in a reading. What The Eight of Cups Means In A ReadingThe Eight of Cups is a powerful tarot card that can indicate several things in a reading. It can represent new beginnings, change, or even endings. But, of course, it all depends on the context of the reading. This card typically appears when someone is at a crossroads in their life. They may be facing some difficult choices and feel like they are stuck. The Eight of Cups can represent the feeling of being stuck and not knowing which way to go. If you see this card in your reading, it may be time for you to make some changes in your life. This doesn't necessarily mean that you need to end something, but rather that you should start something new. Sometimes, we need to let go of the past to move forward. If you are feeling lost or confused, the Eight of cups can signify that you need to take time for yourself. This is a time to reflect on what you want in life and where you see yourself going. You may need to walk away from something in order to find your true path. The Eight of Cups can also represent endings. If you have been holding onto something that is no longer serving you, it may be time to let it go. This could be a job, a relationship, or anything else that no longer brings you happiness. No matter what the Eight of Cups means in your reading, it is always a sign that change is coming. This change may be big or small, but it will significantly impact your life. So be open to new possibilities and trust that the changes are for the best. Now, let's go over some numerology here. Seven is about being creative, making assessments, and problem-solving. The eight is about action, accomplishment, and mastery. Now, let's get back to some storytelling and talk about this new mom who wanted to look into doing work from home but did not know whether or not she should be a mom blogger, selling crafts, or doing something else that the Seven of Cups represented. However, even though she realizes that she may be able to do something from home to make money as long as she makes that choice, she cannot spend that much time on the side hustle. She has a baby to care for, a marriage to work at, and a house to manage. She may feel a hint of resentment when she realizes this because she would love to do some work for more hours. But this is the reality, so even though she does not like it, she accepts that this is the way it is, representing the Eight of Cups. And think about this. Even though she realizes this reality and reluctantly accepts it, she may purposely ignore some chores. For example, she may refuse to dust some areas of her home because she cannot be bothered. That is also an example of the Eight of Cups. When you are a new mom, you don't always understand the level of sacrifice you make. Now, let's go over the Eight of Cups reversed. Eight of Cups ReversedWhen the Eight of Cups comes up in reverse, it is a sign that you are undecided about whether you should stick around something unfulfilling or not. You are unsure if you should walk away or try again. It can also represent drifting aimlessly from one thing to the next. I cannot help but think of an echoist that struggles to say "no" and always agrees to take on work from others when they don't have to and don't honestly want to do so. But since they don't have boundaries, they will say "yes" when they truly mean "no." which is a sad way to be. I can relate to that, and I wish I did not, but all I can say is that I am glad I broke out of it and wish that the lesson was not so harsh. But, sadly, these lessons are. When you are aimlessly moving from one thing to the next, that also reminds me of the Seven of Cups in some ways. That happens when you are suffering from the shiny object syndrome. You move from one enticing appearing thing to the next. That is going to hurt you in more ways than you would think. So now, let's talk about how to use the Eight of Cups in your life. How To Apply The Eight of Cups To Your LifeThe best thing you can do is when you need to apply this tarot card to your life; you want to walk away from something or someone who is not fulfilling you. It is always hard to do that because emotions will get the best of you. However, if you, for example, have a friend that is not a true friend, and you are having thoughts about cutting them out of your life, there is a reason for that. They are not fulfilling you. They are not supporting you, and they are not good for you! Therefore, it may be in your best interest to meditate on the Eight of Cups to see if you can come up with answers for whether or not they can do anything for you. If not, and they are only bringing you grief, it is best to walk away from them as hard as possible. The next card I will go over is the Nine of Cups, the wish card!
