Miriam Reads Tarot - The King Of Cups Tarot Card
If you would like a tarot or astrology reading, get in touch with me at enneagramastrologytarot@gmail.com. Follow me on Medium as well! The King of Cups, the last card in the Cups suit, represents someone who is quite emotionally mature and balanced. This means someone who has wholly controlled their feelings and emotions and does not allow them to get the best of them. This shows when life becomes challenging by not giving in to any associated drama and remaining emotionally stable no matter what. Therefore, when this card shows up, it is a message to keep your cool and to stay emotionally mature and stable even if you are challenged to give in otherwise. You could be faced with a situation that can get you heated up. Still, you know exactly how to handle your emotions, and even if you are angry, you don’t let it show because you know that negatively showing your feelings can worsen the situation. The King of Cups is also a card that rules staying diplomatic even when upset or angry and keeping emotions under control. For instance, you are standing in line, and someone cuts in front of you. You can quickly begin to raise your voice and show your anger towards the one who did that. The King of Cups, however, will politely and calmly say, “excuse me,” but you did cut in front of me. “I can show you if you are unsure where the line starts.” That shows emotional maturity without allowing it to be taken advantage of. Now, let's go over the history and appearance of the King of Cups tarot card. The History And Appearance Of the King of CupsThe King of Cups first originated in Italy during the Renaissance period. The card was initially called "Il Cavaliere di Coppe" or "The Knight of Cups." This name was derived from its original symbolism, representing a man on horseback carrying a cup. The King of Cups became popular in France later and was eventually adopted into the English-speaking tarot decks. The King of Cups represents wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. This card can also be interpreted as representing an emotionally mature man who is in control of his emotions. Let's now look at the King of Cups in the Rider-Waite-Smith deck. When you look at the card, you see an image of a king sitting on a large stone throne. He is wearing a gold cape and a blue tunic which shows his status and authority. You also see a fish-shaped amulet hanging from his neck, representing imagination, and he holds a chalice in his right hand, which means his emotions. He holds a scepter which represents control and power, in his left hand, and at the same time, he focuses elsewhere but does not look at the chalice. That is because he has found a way to control his emotions. He is also on a stone in the middle of a sea that is rocky with turbulence. With the fish jumping and the ship sailing behind his back, he stays cool and collected even while the sea is rocky. The king has mastered his emotions even during stressful times. Let's now talk about what it means to get the King of Cups in a reading. What It Means When You Get The King of Cups In A ReadingGetting the King of Cups tarot card in a reading can mean a few different things. If you are single, it can mean that you will soon meet a kind and compassionate partner who will be an excellent match for you. If you are in a relationship, it can mean that your relationship is solid and stable and that you can expect many more happy years together. If you are facing a difficult situation, it can mean you have the strength and wisdom to overcome any obstacles. Whatever the interpretation, the King of Cups is always a positive sign and represents someone who is intelligent, loving, and has a strong sense of justice. This card can also indicate that you are in a good place emotionally and that you should continue to nurture your relationships. When you think of the King of Cups, you can envision two types of men. One of the men you can envision is that generous and kind uncle that you always remember handing you some gift or treat when you were younger. He was charming and fun; you just felt comfortable around him. Secondly, you can envision the male therapist who comes off as very objective and knows how to detach from emotions healthily. He cares deeply about relationships and the feelings of others. He may be a father figure. He is highly perceptive, intuitive, and an excellent judge of character. The King of Cups is every woman’s dream partner. However, that only applies to the upright version. Let's go over the King of Cups reversed. The King of Cups ReversedWhen the King of Cups is in reverse, it is indicative of being moody, as well as someone who is emotionally manipulative. It can also mean bottling up feelings until it explodes. The King of Cups represents a man who is highly selfish, manipulative, withdrawn, anxious, and becomes overwhelmed quickly. He can be cold as well. You can either envision a covert narcissist or just a guy who was overly indulged by his parents and has no idea how to stand on his own two feet. He would be pretty thinned-skinned as well. You will know the type when you envision the King of Cups reversed. Now, let’s look and see how you can apply the King of Cups to your life. How To Apply The King of Cups To Your LifeThe best way to apply the King of Cups to your life is when you have to be in a situation where you will need to keep your cool. Examples are going for a job interview or going to a function where you know you will be around someone you don't care for, such as an estranged family member or a former friend who turned into an enemy. It is easy to have the urge to tell them off, but how would it look good if you were the one to start a fight? And the best thing to do is to not only keep your cool but to keep your distance if they attempt to start with you. That is how the King of Cups could be helpful to you. That concludes the Cups suit. The last suit is the Pentacles suit which will be the next one, starting with the Ace of Pentacles. You’re a free subscriber to Miriam Reads Tarot .
