StockTips - Hello
Hello all, just letting you know I’m still under the weather. Watch this hurricane! They have the tendency to send markets into the red. The issue with acts of nature is you never know how bad they’re going to be. Hurricanes usually take the path of least resistance but they’re also known to slow to a crawl and dump massive amounts of water over a single area in an extended amount of time causing the River basins to rise; reaking havoc on the down stream areas the closer you get to the sea. Indeed a storm could be downgraded from a hurricane, and still cause more damage than the hurricane itself if the system remains stagnant for too long. Of course if it is a particularly powerful storm with a lot of momentum it can barrel through & damage critical infrastructure. Stay away from insurance companies. Believe it or not, after the most serious storms used car companies tend to do well. People need to replace vehicles crushed by debris or flooded … and most insurance companies don’t cover acts of God. Infrastructure companies dealing with fresh water also tend to do well. Also you can’t discount home improvement stores when a hurricane hits. Not only because people board up windows & prepare, but because people need to fix the damage after. They usually get a bump. Finally, companies like Generac (generators), tend to do well in such circumstances. People need their electricity and usually can’t rely on the grid when the most serious hurricanes hit. There are a million ways to unfortunately profit from disaster. Each disaster is different and the severity matters … which is a massive unknown. Take care. I’m going to get some rest.
