How to go from zero to advanced Shopify Developer.

Given that I’m all in on Shopify’s OS2 themes, I’ve been looking for a way to experiment with building the recently introduced “app extensions” for themes. These extensions provide a way to add functionality to Shopify themes without the need to change the underlying theme code itself.

It’s been really interesting building a Shopify app destined for their App Store, rather than a Custom App. Having recently built an iPhone app for the iOS store, I was used to needing things like privacy policy pages and setting up support inboxes etc. However some of the tech side of the process is less polished, such as having a sample app project which doesn’t meet the requirements of their own store.

By default, most Shopify themes come with a few standard options to filter your products. Although adding more options can bring a meaningful degree of complexity, it’s reasonably simpler to remove some of these options. In this tutorial I’ll guide you on how to remove certain options from your collection’s filter.
