Goodwin Reads - October 2022 Monthly Reading Wrap-up
❤️ After you enjoy this email, please remember to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE. Hey there, bookish fam!I hope you're having a great time reading this month. I've been on a roll and love my recent reads. I can't wait to tell you all about these books and more. But today, I want to share the books I read in October. I was in a huge reading slump in September and didn't read a single book. So I was super excited when I finally finished a book in October. October turned out to be a decent reading month, and a great reading month compared to September. I read three books. All were goodish. Nothing spectacular, but we can’t always love what we read. I enjoyed the time spent with my books and that's what counts. Below are the summaries of what I read in October with links to my full reviews. I’m very interested in hearing what you read in October. Did you go all out spooky? Leave a comment and let’s chat! My October Reads
The Mexican Mafia by Tony RafaelOverall, I enjoyed reading and learning about the Mexican Mafia. Reading the history of the organization and what is being done to stop them was interesting. However, it was disheartening to learn that law enforcement has such a hard time dealing with this crime syndicate because of its loose structure. It’s a good read, and I recommend The Mexican Mafia if this genre or topic is something that interests you. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri ManiscalcoI highly recommend Stalking Jack the Ripper. With a dark theme, it’s written in a light and fun way. This made reading it enjoyable. This is the first installment in a four-book series. I’m hooked. I’ve already bought Hunting Prince Dracula, which is the next book in the series. The Hacienda by Isabel CañasI didn’t enjoy the writing or the overall execution of The Hacienda. I found it easy to put down, hard to pick up, and overall, my mind wandered to other things while reading. The Hacienda couldn’t keep my attention. It had all the elements I wanted from a horror novel. I tried hard to enjoy The Hacienda. But in the end, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted.
