Here’s today’s building, outside my hometown in Flemington, New Jersey—before it was majorly remodeled for an ongoing conversion:

And here it is with the conversion in process:

Now originally, I was just going to show you the remodel picture—it’s going to be an urgent care medical center—and tell you that it used to be a diner. Before Country Griddle, it used to be TJ’s Pancake House, so I was also going to tell you that.

But then I saw this:

Folks in the comments figured it out. But do you know what it is? I’ve never seen this logo before, but it dates the building to an earlier era, and less expected use, than I ever knew.

There were multiple car dealerships along the Flemington Circle back then, whereas now there are mostly stores and restaurants. The car dealerships got pushed to a corridor further down the highway as the area outside of downtown Flemington grew.

As always, I’m fascinated by these little bits of largely forgotten everyday history that surround us.
