🛵 Gorillas investors to pay $100m to secure Getir all-stock buyout. The speedy grocery giant Getir is set to announce its acquisition of competitor Gorillas, according to two sources familiar with the deal. The deal requires the German startup's investors inject extra money into the company in exchange for shares in Getir, and caps off a tumultuous year in the sector.

💰 UK creators face a cash crunch. A new report by WeTransfer has found that creative workers in the UK — like photographers, illustrators and content creators — are struggling to make ends meet as inflation and living costs rise. 61% say they're worried about losing their jobs, and 55% are worried about not being able to pay for essential household bills.

🤔 Lessons learned from tech layoffs in 2022. When CEOs and founders began scrambling to extend their cash runway as the downturn took hold, one major solution was cutting staff. That's led to 140k tech workers being laid off globally so far in 2022 — but have European founders learned any lessons about the "right" way to reduce headcount?

🛒 Online grocer Oda raises €150m but loses its unicorn valuation. The Norwegian startup has also dialled back on international expansion as it looks to first hit profitability in its home market, Finland and Germany — which it plans to move into by the end of the year. The latest round puts the company's valuation at €350m.

🥦 Online grocery strikes again. France's La Tournée has raised €2m in a pre-seed round, and offers customers zero-waste grocery delivery on a day of their choice — instead of on-demand. The round was led by French firm Frst.vc, alongside the founders of Back Market, Drivy and Dashlane. 

💸 Female-led deeptech startup Pathway raises $4.5m. The Paris-based AI startup — which is led by a Polish-French female duo — will use the pre-seed funding to develop its product, which helps companies by providing realtime analysis of fast-moving data. The round was led by Polish VCs Inovo and Market One Capital, and comes on the back of a record year for deeptech funding in France and Poland.

🤑 Partech closes €120m fund for global pre-seed and seed startups. The Paris-based firm's fourth fund will invest in around 50 startups, and keep 60% of the capital for follow-on rounds — up to Series B. It's one of a few significant seed funds that have been raised in Europe during the second half of the year — despite the fact fund managers say it's never been harder to get LPs to part with their cash.
