Why the Heck Is Amazon Selling These Fake 16 Terabyte Portable SSD Drives?

Read in Browser

January 17, 2023

I noticed something strange over on Amazon the other day. Dozens of five0-star listings for 16 terabyte portable SSD drives. For $100 or less. That was pretty shocking. I know of only one 8 TB portable SSD drive on the market right now, and it’s over $2,000. How could a company possibly release a better hard drive for a fraction of the price?

I had to know. So I bought one. And tested it. And even took it apart. And you’ll be shocked to find out this is a scam. A really terrible scam. That reveals a big flaw with Amazon’s ratings. Check out the top story for more.

Other Highlights:

  • Speaking of SSDs, Samsung has a new one that’s better than anything you actually need.
  • Season 3 of Picard is coming, and I can’t wait! Danny put together a list of which Star Trek episodes you should watch to prepare. Fine, I admit I’ll probably watch all of them.
  • Oh boy, over 50,000 LG TVs got recalled due to a safety hazard.
  • … and more!

TODAY'S TOP STORY Why the Heck Is Amazon Selling These Fake 16 Terabyte Portable SSD Drives?

When it comes to portable hard drives, bigger is usually better. You want lots of space for photos, videos, or anything else. So when Amazon offers a 16TB external SSD hard drive for under $100, that sounds perfect. It would be if it weren’t a giant scam. I know because I bought one and tore it apart. Read More »

If you’ve ever accidentally left a door or window open, you know the pain of having a lot of bugs, flies, gnats, and other creepy crawlies get into your house. Luckily, you can now get rid of those flying nuisances without spending hours chasing them around your home with a fly swatter.
