The big news in travel is that China is reopening for tourism. After a difficult couple of years for travel, this signals a major shift toward the end of the pandemic as we’ve known it. But as always, it's important to be aware of any challenges or restrictions—and visa requirements—before planning your trip.

Big News: China Reopens for Tourism

While China may not be on the top of everyone’s bucket list—especially right away—the fact that China has reopened its borders is big news as far as the pandemic is concerned. China is home to some of the world's most iconic and culturally rich destinations, including Beijing and the Great Wall.

Does this mean the world is moving on from Covid? That’s a difficult question to answer. But at the very least, it means that the ability to travel is nearly back to pre-Covid times.

Nevertheless, it's important to be aware of any challenges or restrictions before planning your trip. For example, you may still need to present a negative Covid-19 test upon arrival, and some countries may still have vaccination requirements. Also, don’t forget to check visa requirements (some surprising countries require an e-visa ahead of time like Australia’s ETA). Make sure to do your research before booking your trip.

Trends in travel insurance purchases show that sand and sun are still high on the list for trips outside the U.S. Data from Squaremouth, a travel insurance comparison provider, shows that Mexico leads the destination list for Americans going abroad.
