As much as anyone loves her, you gotta admit: visuals are not her medium. And finally, we leave you with some advice. Mike Hadreas, the musician known as Perfume Genius, recently binge-watched the early-aughts teen drama Gilmore Girls for the first time. I know this from Twitter. As a Perfume Genius fan, and as someone who is required to watch Gilmore Girls every day for medical reasons that are actually none of your business, I was delighted to see two of my interests meeting, and to finally have an excuse to approach Hadreas under the guise of work. Thankfully, he accepted my request to discuss the series at length.

The Super Bowl, America’s favorite non-religious holiday, is a little more than two weeks away. It’s still unclear which teams will square off at Arizona’s State Farm Stadium on Feb. 12, but we all know at least one person who will be playing: Robyn Rihanna Fenty, will be headlining the game’s halftime show.

Rihanna has been on NFL Head of Music Seth Dudowsky’s half-time show wish list “for years.” But she has already, very publicly turned down the offer to perform. In 2018, Us Weekly reported that Rihanna had rejected the NFL’s halftime invite in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, a year after he was forced into free agency for kneeling during the National Anthem. She doubled-down on her NFL boycott when Vogue asked if she’d turned down the show in a 2019 interview:

Absolutely. I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler….

Out of more than 50 music videos, Taylor Swift has only ever made two that are, in my estimation, exceptional. Were you to rank Swift’s videography, “Blank Space” would take the top spot, then “You Belong With Me,” and it wouldn’t really matter after that. Maybe “Love Story” would be third, I don’t know. I can’t rank a bunch of Taylor Swift content again, it almost killed me the last time. The point is that Swift has a horrible batting average when it comes to music videos, and it’s not likely to improve with tonight’s release of the long-anticipated video for “Lavender Haze,” which she has teased on social media:
