Progress Report 15: Enjoying Learning Again
Your level-up starts nowHey there! I hope your 2023 is off to a great start. 🚀 In the last progress report, I announced my pivot in target audience from course creators to learners. Now I’d like to share more about what inspired this change, which happens to be a previous pivot in my life. At 27 years old, I went back to school to pursue a master’s degree in Educational Technology. After 5+ years working as a graphic designer, I was ready to pivot toward a different design discipline. Instead of working on branding and marketing experiences, I wanted to use my creativity to create educational experiences. I remember how daunting it felt to be in school and studying again. It took a few weeks and pep talks to get my learning muscles back into shape. Now on the other side of it, I’m glad I took the plunge. It showed me that I have the resilience to never stop learning. 💪 Perhaps it’s been a while since you’ve done anything educational. The last time you attended school was years ago. And honestly, just the thought of upskilling or reskilling stresses you out. Some people believe they’re too old or not smart enough to learn a new skill (hello imposter syndrome). Unfortunately, this mindset holds us back in our careers and life. If any of this resonates, I have a message for you: 👉 You’re not alone in feeling this way. Learning isn’t easy. In fact, it’s supposed to be hard because that’s how you train your brain. But just because it’s difficult doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Since December, I’ve been writing seven mini-essays to explore how adult learners can enjoy learning again and elevate the way they learn new skills. And I’m excited to finally share it with you! I’ve turned the essays into a free email series. Once you sign up, every few days you’ll receive an email covering the following hot topics: (By the way, a reader said Part 3: Your Knowledge Closet was their favourite, which was the most fun to write!) I hope this series serves as trusty companion content while you level-up your skill set this year. Starting in February still gives you 11 months to master your new skill of 2023! 😉 Check out the email series here: If at any point you have a question or could use a sounding board to discuss your upskilling plans, don’t hesitate to reach me at brainoflaraine@gmail.com Did you know feedback is one of the most critical factors for learning? So if you have any thoughts, ideas, or constructive criticism about this newsletter or project, please don’t hesitate to fill out this anonymous form: |
