Inverse - 🍿 Young Avengers?

Feb. 9, 2023

What could the future of the MCU hold? With Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe coming to a close, the Avengers are scattered, but a new generation of heroes is starting to take shape. Could a Young Avengers team-up be on the horizon?

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania producer Stephen Broussard teased to Inverse that the teen and young-adult heroes that make up the beloved junior superhero team could end up meeting and crossing over in future movies. Maybe a Young Avengers movie could be a very real prospect after all.

Read about that and more in today's Inverse Daily.

Young Avengers? ‘Quantumania’ Producer Talks "Next Generation" of Marvel Heroes

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is turning a number of Marvel tropes into actual themes. The weirdness of variants has been explored in Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but it comes full circle in Quantumania with the reintroduction of Jonathan Majors’ Kang.

But there’s a trope that’s really been brought to the forefront in the third Ant-Man movie: generations. Cassie Lang gets a new look and a new superheroic persona in this movie, giving more weight to the rumors that a Young Avengers project may be on the horizon. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania producer Stephen Broussard tells Inverse just how that rumor fits into the MCU’s plans.

‘Quantumania’ Producer Confirms Fan Theory Was Right All Along

When Ant-Man and the Wasp released in 2018, Marvel Studios wasn’t sure when, if ever, it would revisit the microscopic dimension known as the Quantum Realm. So it left behind a little teaser in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment that fans have speculated over for years.

Now, Marvel is finally paying off that Easter egg in a big way, with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Astronomers Found A Ring Around A Distant Object In Space — And It’s Acting Strange

While an object the size of Spain drifts through the distant Solar System, astronomers watch it block faraway starlight to gather information. Recently, they found something exciting: this primordial chunk has a ring.

This is a show-stopping feature of Saturn and other planets, but much smaller bodies have them too. A decade ago, this same team made the first-ever detection of a ring around an asteroid.

The history-making space rock, Chariklo, is still being studied. In fact, last month, two papers detailed how the new James Webb Space Telescope helped to reveal more details. And in 2017, they found the rings around the faraway dwarf planet Haumea. But their latest findings, published Wednesday in Nature, suggest an unexpected situation: The newly-discovered ring looks like it is in the wrong place.

Eerie Green Comet Poses With Big Dipper and Little Dipper

The last time comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) passed through the inner Solar System, Neanderthals and Homo sapiens were still neighbors in parts of Ice Age Europe — and we may be the last members of our species to see it.

Astronomer Petr Horalek, of the Institute of Physics in Opava, Czech Republic, photographed Comet ZTF in late January — shortly after its closest approach to the Sun, and on its way toward its closest approach to Earth — framed by two of the most recognizable constellations in the night sky. The Little Dipper appears in the sky above the comet, with the North Star, Polaris, at the tip of its handle. Below the comet lies the Big Dipper.
