Love is Lucrative. Odd Jobs of the Week.
Jen “Odd” Glantz here! Love is in the air…or maybe it’s not…maybe heartbreak is. That’s the beauty of February. Half the people you know are madly in love and the other half are trying to refrain from texting their ex. Either way, if your heart is racing for an odd gig to try, I want to share with you ways people make money off others falling in OR out of love. Scroll (don’t swipe left or right) for all that info, my love. PS. I have (1) open spot for 1:1 coaching this month. These go fast so if you ever wanted to work together on a life-career-side hustle strategy, I’ve got your back. This week, I’m obsessed with - Sunsama:We made it to the second month of the year. Perhaps you have a list of things you wish you started in January but you need a little pick-me-up to help make that happen. Try this: Sunsama. It’s the ONLY way I’m able to keep everything in my life running smoothly. Sunsama, a virtual planning assistant that has helped me establish a routine and pulls in my emails, calendar events, and tasks into one single app, so I know exactly how to focus on my day ahead. Super happy with the platform and hope you’ll give it a try and plan your day in Sunsama. How Lucrative is Love?Become a “Wingperson”You could essentially charge whatever you like for this kind of gig - as long as you can prove value, results, and your unique approach. Here are some examples: Hire a WingWoman charges $72 an hour, with a two-hour minimum—every half hour after that costs $32. Erin Davis Wingwoman charges an hourly fee of $150. If I was doing this bizz, I’d make it a package deal. Example: The WingWoman Gold Package
What kind of skills do you need? You’ve got to be someone who loves love, loves people, loves socializing, loves meeting new people, loves conversations, loves connection, and loves talking. Also, you probably should be the kind of person who can walk into a room where you don’t know anybody and leave with a million new best friends. Is it fun?I’ve found that a lot of jobs with catchy and fun titles to them are usually really tough and exhausting. While being a wing-person probably has it’s perks for a person who likes to go out, hang with new people, and is a true extrovert, I bet it has downsides. All your social nights you’d spend with friends would be spent with clients and after a while, doing your job would feel repetitive and I imagine a bit boring. Can you make a lot of cash?Remember, it’s one thing to have an odd gig as a weekend side hustle, but if you really want to make the BIG cash - you need to make the job scalable. I imagine, after a few years of being a wing-person, you get burnt out. A lot of the wing-people I looked up seemed to have pivoted their businesses or ended it all together. To make the big money, you need to scale and you can’t scale yourself. So you’d have to: -Hire other wing-people -Sell a book -Sell a course -Sell merch -Sell retreats or events -Become an affiliate or sell ads -Create a podcast or TV show -& more. It’s a job that’s a lot of hustle and will require multiple streams of income within the business. …NEXT IDEA! The Dating StuffI’ve chatted about this before. You could become: Dressing up like Cupid-I couldn’t find anyone doing this, but you can totally do this gig. Buy a cupid or Valentine’s day costume and have people pay you to take a picture (just like they pay big bucks to pose with Santa or the Easter bunny). Love NFTs-I am obsessed with all things NFTs right now. It’s not just digital art that’s worthless. NFTs all have a different purpose and often with extra perks. You can create NFTs for the love and dating space. Example: a collection of NFTs that give singles access to a private dating community. Once they find love, they can sell the NFT to someone who wants to get access to the single’s club. Greeting Card WriterIf you’re a writer, why not create a series of greeting cards perfect for Valentine’s day? You can make them for free using Canva.com and sell them on Etsy or your own website. Proposal MakerYou know what comes with the holiday of love? Engagements. Check out these people who plan proposals. Consider a gig like that. The BIZZ of Break-UpsSharing a variety of different breakup businesses and business models I found on the internet. If you want to get into this space, dig into these businesses and figure out one that’s helpful to your audience (the broken hearted) and better than these that exist. That’s a recipe for success. The Break Up Shop - this is an entire business that helps people end relationships! They make cash off of services, affiliate links, and potential conferences or books. Onward - a company that helps you relocate and get your life back on track after a breakup. For $299, you get access to services like help finding housing, therapy, matchmakers, financial planners, community, and more. Renew Breakup Bootcamp - a weekend bootcamp to help you process your breakup and get ready for what is next. Amy Chan (who has been a guest on my podcast) is the founder and makes money from the bootcamp, books, courses, and more. Breakup Coaching & Courses - this entrepreneur makes cash off of $200/hour breakup coaching sessions and courses starting around $50. She has great SEO so it was easy to find her website when I typed in “breakup coaching”. Because of that, someone desperate for this kind of help will find her website first and likely pay that cash without researching other people. Sell Your Love Stuff - this website is a marketplace for you to sell your old engagement ring or jewelry once a relationship ends. One more idea - people are hiring celebs off Cameo to end their relationship. Could you start a whole platform to offer this? Hmmmm. The Odd List of Random Things🤔 Add to your life:Books & Stuff:A fun little list of all the things that I adore the most in this world - from books to oddities for your desk. Tools: Here are some of my go-to platforms to use. Time management and to-do list management tool I use daily Random:These things are always good to keep handy When I need a good gift for someone, I send them a wine subscription or a treat from this site. If they are engaged, this is the ultimate gift to send.
