Flow State - Ekin Fil
You’re on the free tier of Flow State. To get our weekly Tuesday podcast and access to our full archives (including Spotify playlists), become a subscriber: Good morning. Today we’re listening to Ekin Fil, a Turkish ambient producer and singer-songwriter from outside Istanbul.¹ Fil started putting out music in 2008, and has had a “years-long run of quietly phenomenal music,” as First Floor put it in January. Many of her albums feature her own ghostly vocals, exemplified by Feelings from 2021 and Ghosts Inside from 2017, both of which we’re playing today. But first we recommend Rosewood Untitled, her new ambient LP which was recorded in 2021 in the aftermath of Turkish wildfires.² The haunting, delicate synth tones are both mournful and soothing. Rosewood Untitled - Ekin Fil (30m, some hints of vocals in the background) Feelings - Ekin Fil (30m, light vocals on most songs) Ghosts Inside - Ekin Fil (40m, light vocals on most songs) We wish you a great start to your week. 1 via Fractured Air 2 via Rate today’s rec: Awesome | Good | Meh | Bad | Terrible Support Flow State by becoming a subscriber | Group Subscriptions |
