Swedish lithium-ion battery giant Northvolt has its eyes on an IPO — which could be one of the largest ever for a climate company.

💰 SVB UK is still funding loans. According to messages seen by Sifted from members of SVB UK staff, clients are able to access new credit and pre-existing loans. But while it's business as usual for now, questions remain around what the future of the bank's lending schemes could look like under HSBC.

That's the amount startup founders received from the UK government's R&D tax credit scheme in the year to April 2021.

But that support is set to be slashed, which has miffed British founders. Over 250 of them have urged Jeremy Hunt, the British chancellor, to reverse proposed cuts in his spring Budget today. 

They warned that the cuts would have a “seismic impact” on the UK’s startup ecosystem, and cost the average startup £100k a year.

• Teitur Trophics, a Danish biotech company working on new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases, raised €28m in Series A funding. 

• London-based healthtech HelloSelf, a digital therapy and coaching platform, raised $20m in Series B funding led by Octopus Ventures.

💰 Pre-seed and seed

• UK-based Legislate, which makes tech allowing users to compare, create, query and sign contracts without the need for outside legal involvement, raised an additional $3.6m in seed funding led by Parkwalk Advisors.
• Connectd, a London-based startup that connects entrepreneurs with investors and non-executive directors, raised an additional $2.6m in seed funding.

💰 Undisclosed 

• Innovamat, a Spanish app that uses gamification to teach the K-8 maths curriculum, has raised €20m.

• Intrinsic Semiconductor Technologies, a UK startup that claims its tech can read data up to 100x faster and write it 1,000x faster than existing solutions, has raised £7m from Octopus Ventures, IP Group and the UCL Technology Fund. It’s also secured a £1m grant from Innovate UK.

• Danish satellite diagnostics startup QuadSAT has secured €9m in a round led by IQ Capital, and supported by the likes of Seraphim Space.

• AG5, a Dutch SaaS platform used to map and track employees' skills and qualifications, has raised €6m.

• FrontM, a UK-based platform enabling telehealth, video conferencing, remote assistance and tracking and monitoring for ships, has secured $1.5m.

• CollectiveCrunch, a Finnish startup that uses AI to track forest diversity and carbon changes, has raised €1.4m.
