Between late night kiddo nightmares, trying to catch up from conference travel, and way too many meetings, my brain is utterly unable to string together enough thoughts for a proper introduction. Plus, this week's links are many.

I am still enjoying Midnight in Chernobyl but it’s slow going. My brain keeps wanting to pronounce the Russian names correctly so I tend to read those way to many times. I might take a break from this book for a bit. It’s not that it’s bad or even a slog, but I’ve got some library books that I need to get to so I can return them.

• When my in-laws were here about a month ago, we paid for a month of Acorn so we could watch Murdoch Mysteries with them. We meant to cancel it, but we're going to keep it until we binge all the available seasons. This is a delightful "cozy mystery" of a show sent in 1900s era Toronto. Murdoch, a detective, goes about solving crimes by "inventing" modern technology. It's very character-actor driven and utterly charming. It's also surprisingly inclusive, all things considered. We watched on episode where a woman with autism witnessed a murder. The storyline could have gotten really dicey fast but, instead, it was all gently handled while being realistic. [Acorn]

• I love how fast tacos are to throw together. This week, I whipped up some shrimp and corn tacos with lime crema and pickled red onions. We had a smoky taco seasoning and I tossed the shrimp around in that before I seared them off. [Recipe inspiration from Cooking Light]

• Our kiddo is loving grilled cheeses at the moment. We love them too, but I wanted to expand from the normal cheese singles version. I made pizza grilled cheese which we've had in the past. I skipped the parmesan in the compound butter by accident but it didn't impact the flavor much. Plus, instead of putting sauce on the bread, I warmed some up from dipping. I'm of mixed minds if that is any better. [Budget Bytes]

This week, I learned of the delightful 70s Dinner Party Instagram. It features recipes from the 1970s in all their retro glory. They are highly amusing to look at but are not appealing to my tastes at all.
