MIDDI - Tickled Pink
In search of the finer things in life — because the finest ones still cost too much. From the Barbie aisle at Toys "R" Us to my first pair of ballet shoes and my go-to summer lipstick shade, pink has always been a part of my life. It’s such a powerful color. Pink grabs your attention and sets the mood more than other hues. It’s about standing out and being unapologetically yourself. There are so many shades of pink—there’s one for any look you want to achieve. Maybe it’s the millennial in me, but more and more pink has made its way into my home in recent years and I see no end in sight. This week’s three buys all showcase the versatility of this color, each one making a powerful, beautiful statement. Pink is here to stay. 1. Nudestix Nudies Blush Stick in Naughty N' Spice ($35) One makeup product that can be used on the cheeks, lips and eyelids? Brilliant. This monochromatic approach helps you look fresh and awake with just a few swipes. Nudestix is a Canadian beauty brand that’s all about multitasking cosmetics that enhance your natural beauty. Launched in 2013 by Jenny Frankel and her daughters Taylor and Ally, their blush sticks are available in a range of gorgeous shades to compliment all skin tones. This dusty rose shade adds a natural glow to the face without glitter and gets you out the door fast. 2. ALIGNE Pink Suit Separates (£69 to £129) Pink is a color I do not wear often, which is why I’m drawn to it as a fun way to put a spin on a more traditional garment, like a suit. ALIGNE is an eco-conscious label started in 2020 by Dalbir Bains. Each of their items is made from at least 50% sustainable materials and are shipped in recycled and biodegradable packaging. This bubblegum pink blazer can be paired with matching trousers or shorts to fit the occasion or climate and can be worn with sneakers and a crisp white t-shirt like you see here or with strappy heels and a silky camisole underneath. 3. Paloma Home Oriental Birds Fabric (£31.20 per meter) I love having lots of color in my home, which is why as much as I adore the simplicity of Scandinavian design, I’m also here for the return of maximalism. Mixing colors, patterns and textures adds depth and whimsy to a room. This fabric from British singer, songwriter and designer Paloma Faith’s collection Paloma Home can be used on whatever scale you like to add a little or a lot of pink to your space. Use it to make cushions to adorn a sofa or a set of curtains for dramatic opulence. Made from 100% cotton and hand-drawn, it’s also available in a moodier navy. Something to think about … What are you reading right now? I’ve been enjoying this novel, Breasts and Eggs, by Mieko Kawakami, which follows three working-class women in contemporary Japan as they deal with the trials and tribulations of society, family and aging. Mieko’s writing is darkly comedic and vivid in detail and it’s been a joy to revisit the streets of Tokyo through her words. Last week on MIDDI … MIDDI is a weekly roundup of mid-priced beauty, fashion and home buys released every Monday. Have a product you’re searching for? Leave your suggestions in the comments. |
