Over the past few months, we have welcomed many new members to our community, launched exciting new initiatives, and continued to explore new ways to empower our members and create value for our stakeholders.

This week’s editorial features HiroKennelly discussing a proposal to create a Spanish-language subDAO within BanklessDAO. This subDAO will produce content aimed at Spanish-speaking people, of which there are over 500 million native speakers around the world. What an excellent way to further out mission to create onramps for people to discover the liberating power of decentralized financial technologies.

If you are looking to do your taxes quickly and for free (and who isn’t!?), Bankless Card has rolled out a new initiative that enables you to do just that. Taxman is a new feature that allows you to do taxes on DAO income in five minutes! Ready, set, file!

On the governance front, there are Snapshot and Forum proposals needing your comments and votes — go and make your voices heard! Season 8 budget proposals have been submitted to Forum for review by the Grants Committee.

This week’s Community Call finished with a roundtable discussion on the seasonal funding process. Many experienced contributors shared their views on existing obstacles, and suggested expectations and solutions regarding improvements.

🖊️ bDIP-08: Selection and Election of BanklessDAO Vault Multi-Signature Wallet Signers

If passed, this bDIP will mean the DAO has adequately documented procedural information about the role of a BanklessDAO Vault multi-signature wallet signer. The proposed text covers these individuals’ rights and responsibilities, plus election and removal processes.

Pending ratification on Snapshot, the planned next step is to hold an election and replace the current inactive signatories.

⏰ bDIP-N: Level Update to Include tlBANK

After several successful temp checks, the draft bDIP text regarding time-locked BANK is on the Forum. According to the language in the bDIP, the change to Level 1 Membership levels will be as follows:

Full DAO members are those who have accumulated the requisite 35,000 BANK and are authenticated in the Discord server. The benefits of L1s include access to additional Discord channels and no longer needing to renew the guest pass. DAO Members that mint the preset tlBANK will also be given L1 Membership with the included benefits. Only the tlBANK minting address receives the L1 access.

• This will create secondary use cases for the BANK token by:

  • allowing tlBANK to trade on any NFT marketplace.

  • creating new areas of involvement and alignment of projects.

• The UI will define lockup, but will be open-ended on the back to allow projects to have different involvement.

• ONLY the minting address will receive the L1 Access to the DAO.

👯 Bankless in Spanish, a New SubDAO of BanklessDAO

As detailed in this week’s editorial, the Spanish IMN is proposing to spin out as its own subDAO. Please read the editorial, review the proposal, leave your comments, and vote! With a reasonable ask of 640,000 BANK to provide more web3 educational content in the language natively spoken by nearly 500 million people, this proposal has great potential to move the DAO’s mission forward.

The BanklessDAO in Spanish Proposal Está en Llamas

Nearly every day, something happens at BanklessDAO that puts the awe in awesome. This newest discovery, a Forum post by CryptoReuMD which is seeking consensus and funding to create a Spanish-language subDAO, struck me in such a way. The name: BanklessDAO in Spanish 🔥.

With nearly 500 million native speakers, Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world, and is the primary language in 20 countries as well as the unincorporated U.S. territory of Puerto Rico.

Not only that, but Spanish-speaking countries have some of the highest per-capita crypto adoption rates in the world.

Since BanklessDAO's inception, there has been a Spanish International Media Node (IMN). This fast-growing node currently has over 50 members.

Without question, this node team has done remarkable work, translating BanklessDAO-produced content in Spanish and hosting/cohosting IRL events, including ETH Mexico, DevCon, Ethereum Mexico x Ledger, and bDAO x Nouns in Merida, but they feel this isn't yet enough.

Latin American (LATAM) countries have severely underbanked populations. As written in the Forum post, LATAM populations "understand why we need to separate money from the state." To truly educate those within LATAM, it's essential that BanklessDAO is able to not just increase its translation abilities, but also produce original written and audio-visual content tailored to Spanish-speaking countries. It’s proposed that to do this, the Spanish IMN node should break out into its own subDAO with its own budget, agency, and autonomy.

According to the Forum post, the goals of the subDAO are as ambitious as they are exciting, including:

• Translations: 20 Translations/month

• Original Content: 4 Creative/Original/DeSci/Research Newsletter

• Media Content: 8 Videos

  • Bankless Weekly Rollup (x4) — bDAO in Spanish YouTube Premium Subscription

  • Original/Research/Hosting Video/Podcast (x4)

• Twitter Spaces (x4 monthly)

• Telegram Spaces/Videos

The mission of BanklessDAO in Spanish is spot on, and recognizes the challenges of propagating Bankless values to a global citizenry. "[L]anguage becomes a greater barrier and information simply does not reach the right corners. In BanklessDAO in Spanish, we will use the media that exists today, written, audiovisual and social, to promote the importance of crypto knowledge and bring to people with access difficulties the financial, artistic and disruptive tools that will allow them to start their Bankless journey."

Part of the desire, or need really, of the Spanish IMN node to evolve into a subDAO is budgetary — with the amount of work that needs to be done to educate Spanish-speaking populations on the empowering technologies which underpin decentralized finance, they simply need more BANK. "Working in the international media nodes is great, but we can’t translate everything because we don’t have the budget, with our independence we will be more capable and have more time to translate more and more content, and also to create videos and translate the ones that are published in other subDAOs of Bankless."

Importantly, Bankless in Spanish intends to create original content that focuses on issues of concern in LATAM countries. "[W]e’re going to do more research on local projects, on ramp and off ramp in our banks, what’s happening to our families and how we can make our country more bankless."

If the reaction of the BanklessDAO community on the Forum is any indication, spinning out the Spanish IMN node into a subDAO has widespread support.

But BanklessDAO in Spanish needs your support too. Please visit the Forum post, review the proposal, leave a comment, and most importantly, vote. Although it appears that BanklessDAO in Spanish has the support necessary to receive funding, this funding is not guaranteed, as it still must be approved by the Grants Committee.

Demonstrating that there is overwhelming support from the BanklessDAO community goes a long way to showing the Grants Committee that this is a project worth supporting.

It's too soon to congratulate the team behind the proposal, but it's not too late to further help the world Go Bankless! Excellent work Bankless in Spanish team!!

Grants Committee members recently conducted a poll among themselves about seasonal proposal requirements with the following results:
