Got any invites?

Well, it seems the new social network du-jour is Bluesky, the Twitter (and Mastodon) alternative that's being backed by former Jack Dorsey.

It's currently invite only, which is creating some serious FOMO.

I've been on Bluesky since February, and was surprised to see the sudden surge of interest. Now that there's more people joining, I think it has a serious chance of beating Mastodon as the "Twitter alternative of choice" for bootstrappers, indie hackers, etc.

I made a quick video explaining what Bluesky social is, how it's different, and how invite codes work:

We hired Josh!

Not sure if you heard the news, but over at Transistor podcast hosting, we hired Josh Anderton full-time!

Some of you might remember that Josh and I tried building a community/membership platform together called Meeps. Ultimately, after the pandemic the demand for community apps went way down, and we shelved the project (although it's still running MegaMaker!).

Last year I hired a number of contractors to help me with Transistor, including Josh, and every time we paired on something, I found it gave me a ton of energy. I just loved exploring ideas with him, and then having him go away and build tons of cool stuff.

After discussing it with Jon, we decided to bring Josh onto the team full-time. 👍 (we recorded a podcast about it here)

Building a YouTube studio

I love making videos for Transistor and on my YouTube channel, but my studio setup isn't great.

(It's actually pretty embarrassing 🫣)

Previously, I just couldn't get the motivation/time/focus to upgrade everything.

That's changing now! My wife is going to help me build the ultimate video studio!

She's amazing at office design, aesthetics, lighting, colors, and building shit. (She re-designed and re-finished our coworking space, and it turned out great).

Lorinda was keen to learn how to do studio design, so she signed up for @theKevinShen's "Dream Studio" course, and she's been loving it. Kevin and his team are really good at this stuff.
