If you’ve logged into Twitter in the last year, you’ve probably heard of Dr. Andrew Huberman.

Among the Stanford professor-turned-podcast-behemoth’s accomplishments is coining the term “NSDR” (non-sleep deep rest).

It’s a self-induced, meditative-like state of calm in which the body is deeply relaxed but the mind is still awake. And it’s taking off:

With this latest wave in the mindfulness space just getting started, here’s how to take advantage of it:

• Apps: Create a new NSDR app that improves on existing offerings like Reveri. Look at their two- and three-star reviews for inspiration.
  
  
• Content: According to Ahrefs, the term “NSDR” has a keyword difficulty ranking of 10. So it’s still pretty easy to rank in the top 10 on Google for this — you’d only need backlinks from ~11 websites. There’s an opportunity to build an affiliate marketing business by creating written content, podcasts, and YouTube videos about the topic. Huberman’s 10-minute guided NSDR video racked up 200k views in just three weeks.
  
  
• Clinics: Building on the growing popularity of sleep clinics, you could take the NSDR concept in the same direction. Create a full-service clinic complete with nap pods, live guided sessions, and private consultations.

Trendster Dr. Kendrick Scott is a full-time university professor and consults on business strategy with major brands. He also founded InfoAthlete, which did $10k in its first two days, and just over $40k in its first month.

He did it without any ad spend or building a huge pre-existing audience — just using a simple WordPress site, Calendly page, and smart execution.

Get out your pencils, because class is in session. Here are three keys that helped him win:

1. Understand your definition of core competencies. Many companies build on similar core competencies — customer service, quality products, etc. — but they don’t execute them the same way because everyone has different definitions of what those things mean. According to Scott, you need to define these clearly so that you can “operationalize that variable.”
   
   
2. Don’t underestimate your inner circle. One of Scott’s biggest lessons: Don’t chase outside traffic before tapping connections you already have. Not only is your inner circle a great way to find those early clients, it’s also a great way to learn what value your customers think you offer.
   
   
3. Underpromise, overdeliver. Overdelivering on just a few core competencies kicks off a positive cycle of word-of-mouth advertising. That word-of-mouth, coupled with a reputation for overdelivering, will do more for you than the perfect link text or button design.
