This week, we’re looking at my top three study tips. We are in the middle of finals week at my university. This is the time of year where students are really stressed and our printers decide that functioning is optional. While I don’t miss cramming for exams and hurrying to finish final papers, some study tips have stuck with me. There’s the idea that school is where you learn how to learn. I think that is at least partially true. Since there are so many papers/projects/exams in college, you are forced to figure out how you best learn the material. While we’re cramming for science and philosophy, we’re also figuring out notetaking and analysis. While we’re trying to make a project deadline, we’re figuring out time management. To make it through finals, we put together study groups and support aids. All of this shows up later in life when we transfer these skills to the workforce. You don’t get credit hours or grades for these skills, but they are probably the ones that stick with you the longest. Study tips are highly individualized. What works for one person may not work for the next. My top three study tips may not be universal truths but the general ideas are applicable to everyone.
