One of the earliest mainstream movies with a gay teenage protagonist, the movie is remarkable for this. The movie is a crowd-pleaser thanks to its cheery tone and endearing performances, and its urgent and significant message of acceptance and self-love. The movie's main character, Simon, is a high school student who is having a hard time accepting who he is.
