Cooper at Dapper Signs is currently in the midst of a medical emergency. The international sign painting community has come together to support him and his family at this difficult time (see below), and I am writing to amplify these efforts.

I have also created a special raffle with an opportunity to win a one-off Dapper Signs original, and one of three (now sold out) Pausrädchen pounce wheels, courtesy of Sebastian Karbowiak of Kompagnon. It's £10 per ticket and the winners will be drawn on Monday 22 May, so enter by Sunday 21 May.

Enter the raffle to support Dapper Signs, and to be in with a chance of winning his original budget neon BLAG panel and one of three custom Pausrädchen pounce wheels.

Cooper aka Dapper Signs

Cooper of Bristol's Dapper Signs (@dappersigns) has been a long-time supporter, collaborator, and friend on my own adventures in sign painting. He has been part of the Better Letters story from the beginning, eternally generous with his time and passion for the craft, and with a consistently positive outlook on life and letters.

I was therefore deeply saddened to read a post from Ged Palmer at the Luminor Sign Co. announcing that Cooper was receiving emergency surgery in hospital.

"Coops has said to send love to everyone in the community. If you are close to him please send him a message, if it’s business related please don’t as he’s unable to respond at present. Sending hugs love Coop! 🤞🙌"

I wish Cooper a full and swift recovery at this difficult time for him and his fabulous family. I hope that you will support them by entering the raffle and/or taking one of the additional opportunities listed below..

More Support Opportunities

Here I have tried to gather together other ways that you can support Cooper and his family. It has been heartening to see so many in the community come together for him, although it won't surprise those that have met him and been touched by his warmth and generosity.

Dapper Signs T-Shirts

Cooper is in the middle of taking pre-orders for his new t-shirt design. Each one costs £20 plus postage (£7 UK; £10 EU; £12.50 Rest of the world) to be sent by PayPal to info@dappersigns.co.uk including your name, address, size and whether you want a white t-shirt with blue design or pink on black.

J'Adore Dapper Signs* Print

There are still some of these limited edition prints available in Cooper's Etsy shop. Only 40 were printed in eight (!) colours and signed, and they come with stickers.

Golden Tickets

Our raffle was inspired by two others currently running. The first, from Heart & Bone Signs, is a chance to win a limited edition framed reverse-glass Chicago-style Rat Fink sign. It's $25 per ticket by PayPal (or Venmo) to @heartandbonesigns, with the winner picked on Sunday 14 May.

The second is an opportunity to win a genuine 23ct gold leaf, reverse hand-painted, and framed TATTOO sign from Liane Barker at Barker Signs / Brush & Pen Studio. It's $25 to enter by sending funds via PayPal to brushandpenstudio@gmail.com. The winner will be announced on Sunday 21 May, with shipping then added at $20 (local) or $50 (international).

Kenji's Practise Sheets

The first batch sold out, but Kenji Nakayama will be releasing a weekly batch of his practise sheets to raise money for Cooper. Follow @kngee on Instagram for news of the next batch.

Make Love and Alphabets

Paul Myerscough at Bespoke Signs is running an Instagram auction for this hand-painted 'Make Love Not War' panel (closes Saturday 13 May), and sending proceeds from sales of this alphabet print directly to Cooper and his family.

Share Away

Whether or not you're able to offer direct financial support, you can help out by sharing any/all of the above with friends, family, and on social media. I have put all these pictures into a Dropbox for easy downloading, and the short link to this page is bl.ag/cooper.

Get well soon Cooper, we❤️you x
