💡 Idea #1: Programmatic SEO SaaS

Programmatic SEO has been growing a lot lately. Many SaaS, among other types of businesses, are starting to apply pSEO strategies to acquire customers. Even the largest companies, like Shopify and Zapier, have their pSEO acquisition channels.

For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, Programmatic SEO is a strategy by which you use data to generate hundreds or thousands of pages that are aimed to rank for long-tail keywords and generate organic traffic for your website.

I’ve recently been posting a lot about this strategy, as it’s Failory’s main growth channel. Out of the 200,000 users who organically visit the website every month (coming from Google), 100,000 arrive on one of our pSEO pages.

As an example, we have programmatically created SEO pages for “Pitch Deck”-related keywords. We collected a database of pitch decks and turned it into articles of the style: “Best 10 Fintech Pitch Decks”. If you want to learn more about pSEO, here’s an article I’ve written.

I’ve been working on pSEO for +2 years now. Doing so, I’ve come across multiple business opportunities that could be built in the space. As it’s still a new strategy, the market isn’t yet saturated with tools and services.

The most common question I get regards pSEO is how to programmatically generate the content using the data. Following the above example, the question I receive is how did I turn the database of pitch decks into articles showing pitch decks in one industry?

I always struggle to answer this question - there’re many options to do it, but none is perfect. The startup idea I’m suggesting today is a SaaS that has various tools to convert data into pages.

💡 Idea #2: AI Growth Tool Builder

Another not-so-common acquisition channel for startups is growth tools (also known as side-project marketing or engineering-as-marketing).

Growth tools are stand-alone products that aim to attract potential customers to your business. They generally are:

But there are also other types, including quizzes, directories, aggregators, games, checklists, and even physical products.

If you’re interested in learning further about side-project marketing as an acquisition channel, here’s an article I’ve written.

Not that many startups are using growth tools to acquire customers. I believe the main reason is that building these tools requires engineering knowledge. Unlike content marketing, which can be done entirely by a marketer, growth tools require the cooperation of marketers and developers.

Developers are a scarce resource for startups, particularly for those in the early stages in which the product's main features are still being developed. This makes it hard for marketing teams to get the needed support from the engineers to build these tools.

However, with the recent advances in AI, this should stop being a problem. Many AI website builders have recently been launched - these are capable of transforming natural language into nice-looking and functional websites.

The startup idea I’m suggesting today is an AI-powered tool that transforms natural language into these growth tools, removing marketers’ dependency on developers.
