Week to week we discuss simple, tangible, ways to integrate sustainability and activism into our lives - but are you ready to take it to the next level? Are you ready to dedicate 40 hours a week to help save the planet? Building a career in the climate universe is a rewarding and meaningful step in anyone’s climate journey and this week we’re discussing how to take the plunge. Finding Personal Alignment at WorkWork for Companies Working for the PlanetWhile all jobs can be climate jobs, and we’ll get more into that in our next edition, sometimes fighting for change within a system that has no interest in changing can be exhausting, demoralizing, and lead to burnout. Your vigor for protecting the planet may end up generating a much larger impact at a company already looking to make a difference as opposed to one dead set on maintaining the status quo. Switching to a company that has sustainability as a pillar of its mission is a great way to utilize your time, energy, and skills in pursuit of a greener tomorrow. Your SkillsetSwitching career paths is intimidating at best. Especially within the climate space, there is a bit of a misconception that being a climate scientist, engineer, or nature buff is the only way in. I’m here to tell you that, adjusting our ways of being in order to mitigate the worst effects of climate change will touch every facet of our lives. There is no industry that will go untouched and will require everyone to get on board. That means your skillset will be an asset to a company out there focusing on climate. Marketers, tech, teachers, artists, writers, health care, you name it - your skills and know-how are needed in the climate space. Going back to school is not required.
