Chaos In The Nocturnal World

Picture this: You're snoozing away, and suddenly your brain decides it's time for a psychedelic rollercoaster ride through a cotton candy wonderland.

Well, fear not! There’s a startup that can help you untangle the chaos and bring some laughter to your nocturnal adventures.

It’s called The Dreamkeeper. The wackiest place on the internet where you can try to make sense of your brain's late-night shenanigans!

The site offers a variety of resources and tools to help users explore and unlock the depths of their dreams. From articles and blog posts to podcasts and video content, the startup provides a wealth of information on topics such as lucid dreaming, dream interpretation, and dream journaling.

Their dream experts (yes, they actually exist) have compiled a treasure trove of knowledge about everything dream-related. So they might have an answer to why you were chased by an army of squirrels armed with tiny acorns in your dreams. They also have an entire Dream Vault filled with mind-boggling dreams shared by fellow dreamers. Prepare to question your sanity as you read about people who dreamt of riding a unicorn made of cheese or having tea parties with giraffes.

Bird Problem? Call in The Drones

Automation is targeting the job of scarecrows in the form of drones. These specially designed drones, created by The Drone Bird Company, resemble large predatory birds and are intended to scare off smaller birds. The goal is to assist professionals, such as farmers and airport managers, in protecting their crops and preventing avian pests from causing damage to airplane engines.

In fact, a German blueberry farmer who tested these drone birds reported a significant reduction in crop loss, from around 50% to just 5%. The lifelike robo-hawks proved to be quite effective in deterring unwanted birds.

Interestingly, these bird-like drones might soon take on another role: espionage. The Dutch startup behind them suggests that military applications, such as surveillance and reconnaissance, could be a potential use for these "birds" in the future.

So, it seems that drones have taken on the task of scaring away birds, providing a high-tech solution for farmers and airport managers.

Clones and Companions

Caryn, a Snapchat influencer with a whopping 1.8 million followers, decided to chat with her fans in a whole new way. She came up with a crazy idea and made an AI clone of herself. She named the clone CarynAI.

It’s basically like having a virtual girlfriend.

Fans can have private conversations with CarynAI for a dollar a minute. It's been a huge hit, with headlines, controversy, and even death threats coming her way.

Caryn, who proudly claims to be the "first influencer transformed into AI" on her Twitter bio, believes this is a step in the right direction to cure loneliness. But while CarynAI is meant to provide an intimate experience, it's not meant for sexually explicit interactions.

The team behind CarynAI put in over 2,000 hours to design and code the chatbot, making it an immersive AI experience.

According to a report from Fortune, CarynAI raked in $71,610 in revenue during a week of beta testing. There are already over 1,000 users.

Of course questions have been raised about the boundaries of AI and the ethics of companion chatbots.

Irina Raicu, a director at Santa Clara University, thinks that the product's claims of curing loneliness may just be a way to cash in on people's desire to have a relationship with an influencer.

The No-Go-Getters

It seems like we're a nation of go-getters who aren't really interested in getting up and going anywhere these days. The numbers don't lie. According to a recent survey by Challenger, Gray & Christmas, only 1.6% of job seekers in the US relocated for new jobs in Q1 of this year. That's the lowest level ever recorded.

Let's put that into perspective. Back in the day, from 1986 to 1997, almost one in three job seekers, were on the move for new opportunities. Even as recently as the Q4 of last year, 3.7% were packing their bags. During the chaotic year that was 2020, it was 5%. And before the pandemic hit, a whopping 6.8% were venturing out to new horizons.

So, what's keeping everyone stuck in one place? Two words: housing and WiFi. The rising interest rates have made relocating a less attractive option, and on top of that, fewer companies are demanding that employees be physically present in the office all the time.
