When we devour content on the internet, for entertainment, to learn something, or otherwise gain value, we pay for it. We are either shown display ads, or we've paid a subscription fee, but someway or another, the content creator is being compensated.

​

But Ai has changed this. Ai learns and feasts on a buffet of text and data to deliver the answers to our queries, but the creators of the content the machines have ingested are no longer being compensated.

​

Ai systems do not contribute to this revenue stream despite benefiting from the data. The existence of datasets containing a universe of material are derived from various sources, including copyrighted material.

​

🤷‍♂️ Could Ai ingesting copyrighted material potentially face legal consequences?

📈 Our friends at Centurica put out some excellent data. This graph is showing a real stall in SaaS and app products. Either Ai is making it too easy to simply create, or sellers are still out to lunch on their valuations, maybe both. The other thing we've noticed is sellers trying to sell waaaay too early now - no real history and Ai is making things obsolete pretty fast.
