📖 Interesting Reads

  • 2023 State of Data report by Databricks. Some highlights: 8/10 of the most adopted data products are open source, LLM usage has grown 1310%, Datalake usage has grown 300%.
  • JPMorgan's presentation on technology and IT spend. A few interesting highlights are JPM uses 560 SaaS apps, 40% of their infra spend is on cloud, and on the staffing side: JPM has 900 data scientists, 600 ML engineers, and 200 AI researchers.
  • A template for enterprise startup’s board of director presentations.
  • YouTube Premium generated about ~$10B in 2022.
  • Apple started producing an AppStore transparency report. Some interesting stats: there are 36M registered developers within the apple ecosystem, 650M average weekly visitors to the app store, and 1.7M apps on the app store.
  • The new Apple headset (expected to be announced at WWDC) has 1,000 engineers working on it, with a budget of $1B, and is expected to cost $3K.
