Is it too difficult to cancel an Amazon Prime subscription? The Federal Trade Commission says it is, and it’s suing Amazon for allegedly tricking customers into signing up for recurring subscriptions to the service and making it unnecessarily hard to get out. FTC Chair Lina M. Khan said Amazon “tricked and trapped” people, engaged in “manipulative tactics,” and employed coercive or deceptive user-interface designs known as “dark patterns” to boost Amazon Prime subscribership.   • Speaking of Prime, Amazon’s annual Prime Day sales event will be held July 11 and 12, and will include a new invite-only deals program and “Buy With Prime” access on third-party sites.

  • Madrona Venture Labs raises $11M: The Seattle studio’s fifth fund is aimed at doubling down on AI startups.

As the Paris Air Show takes place this week, a Washington delegation aims to promote the state’s role in sustainable aviation and to land new ventures. Meanwhile, two startups working in hydrogen-powered aviation and sustainable fuel announced expansion plans. Read more.
