We actually found out, on average, half of a business's logic is in spreadsheets.

It's like your spreadsheet is a second brain.

Here's thing:

51% is the average across the entire respondent population.

Let's see how it splits across those who rate themselves on their ability to use spreadsheets:

Beginners: 37%
Intermediate: 50%
Advanced: 61%

Basically the intermediates dominate this question. But advanced users to pull it up a little bit.

Advanced users are relying on spreadsheets twice as much for their business's operations and logic. This coincides too with hours spent in sheets. 1.53 hours per day for beginners, and 3.32 hours per day for advanced users.

Speaking of hours, here's one more interesting finding:​
Advanced users on average have used spreadsheets for 7,766 hours in their lifetime. That's pretty darn close to 10,000 hours. Just saying.

What does Business Logic mean?

It means the number crunching that goes on that is out of your head, and in a sheet. It's the amount of operational ideas, that are materialized in your sheets. How many milestones, dates, goals, goal tracking, progress tracking, and how much of that is a large part of your business?

You can roughly estimate it.

Let me tel you so far it's looking far off from 90%. But not that far off. The idea behind the tweet is still on the mark. Much of business is run inside of spreadsheets. And a conclusion can be made that half or more of a business's logic can be and mostly is inside of spreadsheets. That's like half of our brain. It's like a great spreadsheet is building a second brain.
