Txt News - Would you fire someone at a wine bar?
I sent a calendar invite to catch up at a wine bar with a team member. My version of events: We haven’t seen each other in person in awhile and the weather is nice. Her version of events: In person, Friday afternoon meeting? Ugh, fired. Is this misunderstanding just because I’m so scary and mean? No. It’s because as leaders, there’s a power dynamic that you cannot forget no matter how friendly and warm and approachable you may be. Especially in this climate (and no matter how close you are to your team!) I promise they’ll appreciate a heads up on topic before you call or meet. |
