KP's Column - The Power Of Belief Capital
⚡️ A QUICK NOTE ABOUT OUR FEATURED SPONSOR ⚡️Thanks to this week’s featured sponsor: Engyne.ai Meet Engyne.ai, a no-code platform that makes is easy for businesses to get started with SEO. SEO has long been thought of as a “black box” for founders, as most SEO agencies charge 5K+/mo and promise that results will come in 6 months or more. Engyne flips this by helping you set up an SEO-optimized blog in minutes, publish content regularly with it’s AI writing tool, and see results right away with built-in analytics. You can even connect an Airtable database to scale your efforts by targeting specific keywords using a programmatic strategy. Edgar Brown, a BIPF1 fellow is one of the co-founders of Engyne. They’re currently running a limited beta where they’re providing in depth marketing support for founders and they’ve helped their early users get their first organic sales in less than 10 days. Grab your spot here. Photo by GreenForce Staffing on UnsplashBelief capital is a powerful force for founders. It's often overlooked, but encouragement and inspiration are the vital seeds to success. While it’s true that founders should possess intrinsic motivation to chase their dreams, in most cases, ambition isn’t something you’re born with—it can be stretched based on what your inner voice accepts as attainable for you. But what influences the inner voice in your head? Belief capital. Growing up in a poor Indian family, other adults around me set my ambitions at being a local bank teller. At seven years old, I believed this was the peak of my potential. However, when I turned 14, my mother encouraged me to explore beyond these constraints using my curiosity and willpower—she showed me what could be possible with my skills. By the end of high school, I topped our district across 16 schools breaking academic records because she simply chose to instill belief in me. She said “sky is the limit” and I chose to believe her. Young founders often need someone to invest belief capital in them without reservation or expectations—a little extra push towards bigger ambitions than they'd initially considered can go far. This highlights why surrounding yourself with ambitious peers is crucial; seeing others take bold steps normalizes such behavior and encourages similar action. The book Atomic Habits emphasizes how group behaviors become part of your belief system—the default actions within a group shape your convictions about what's achievable. Whenever I want to improve certain skills or areas of knowledge (which are readily available online), immersing myself in groups already practicing those habits has proven effective—I learn from their mindsets and approaches on how to overcome my own limiting beliefs. Knowledge is abundant on the internet, but courage and belief capital are rare commodities. You need these to keep going despite setbacks or challenges—and no one gets to achieving their dreams alone! The support from those who see our potential helps raise our limits—these are the people who nourish my soul — and I find it a blessing to interact with them either on platforms like Twitter or podcasts or Fellowships or in real life! My mission? Inspire others—to encourage them—to help them reach their full potential! One person at a time. One day at a time. Across the rest of my life time. Shoutouts and Sponsors#1.
