Utopia - The Curse of Comparison

No matter what stage of life you’re in, it’s easy to fall into the curse of comparison. 

And with social media, it’s never been easier to have access to complete strangers and their lifestyles. 

Logically, we want to look. 

We want to see what other people are up to. 

But for young entrepreneurs, this can be the single most detrimental thing that you do. 

Starting a business isn’t easy. 

What makes it harder is looking around and seeing people make absurd claims, show off their supercars and watches. 

They make it seem like they accomplished it all overnight. 

But that’s the furthest thing from the truth. 

An overnight success isn’t made overnight.

But people use these claims to their advantage, because they want to convince naive young entrepreneurs to join their courses and make them richer.

They want you to think running a business is easy. They want you to think that you too can become a millionaire in just a few short months. 

But I'm here to break that illusion…

Stop Comparing Yourself

I’m gonna be honest with you. 

Starting and running a business is hard. 

You won’t become a millionaire overnight. 

You’ll need to work hard. Harder than you ever have in your life. 

No one will monitor you or congratulate you. You have to be your own biggest fan. 

The biggest tip I can give you: keep your head down and work. 

You don’t need to compare yourself to people who are ahead of you. 

People who are seemingly making tons and tons of money. 

Who cares?

They’re not your competition. They’re in a different league. On their own journey.

You want to know who is?

It’s YOU. 

You’re your own biggest competition. 

The only person you need to be concerned with getting ahead of is the version of yourself you are today. 

Because I guarantee you, you’re not at your peak. You’re not operating at your best. And while you’re comparing yourself to the people ahead of you, you’re getting left behind. 

You need to wake up every morning and ask yourself one question…

“How can I be better than who I was yesterday?” 

That’s all that matters. 

Every single day is an opportunity to do more. To BE more. 

If you’re just starting out you’re going to have to grind. 

That’s just the way it is. 

And the truth is that if you work hard enough every single day, you really will succeed. 

The only thing that will keep you from succeeding is thinking that you deserve to have it all right now. 

It’s a curse. It will make you bitter. And soon enough, you’ll give up because you compared yourself to some guy on the internet. 

You don’t know his story. You don’t know what he had to go through to get what he has today. 

So stop comparing yourself to someone you know nothing about.

Put your head down and work, and only look up when you’re walking into the dealership to buy your own supercar. 

That’s all you need to do.
