How Product People Use AI

AI is revolutionizing product management by enhancing customer research and decision-making. Prashant Mahajan, Niels Goet, Peculiar Ediomo-Abasi, and others discuss the impact and challenges of AI integration, the potential of generative AI, the importance of data science literacy, and various AI tools available to increase productivity tenfold by allowing focus on strategic activities.

The future of product management: embracing AI's revolution. Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the world of product management. It has the potential to revolutionize customer research, decision-making and much more, providing you with data-driven insights and paving the way for a future that is not only intelligent but intuitive. With AI at your fingertips, you're standing at the threshold of a new era in product management. However, integrating AI into product management also presents challenges you need to address. Prashant Mahajan delves into how AI influences the world of product management and what it holds for the future. (via Prashant Mahajan)

How product managers can use generative AI. Product managers have an ever-increasing range of tools and technologies at their disposal. One of the latest additions to the mix is Generative AI–a type of artificial intelligence that can generate output from input, such as text, images or audio. Generative AI has a wide range of potential applications, from generating product descriptions and images to creating new products and services. The team at Speak looks at how product managers can use this technology to their advantage. (via Speak Ai)

Time for a break

As Product Managers, we pride ourselves on juggling multiple tasks and ensuring that products launch smoothly, cater to user needs, and drive business forward. But as Labor Day weekend approaches here in the US, it’s time for a crucial reminder: Sometimes – it’s actually good to just step back, take a break, and spend time with your friends and family. Trust me – it’s way more important than any feature roadmap or product sprint.

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day hustle. The world of product management is exhilarating, fast-paced, and demands our attention at all hours. I get it – I really do. But the risk of burnout is real. Consistently prioritizing work over personal time can affect our mental health, creativity, and ultimately, the quality of the products we manage.

This Labor Day weekend (if you're not in the US, use it as an excuse anyway!), give yourself permission to unplug completely. Forget about user metrics, KPIs, and product backlogs. Instead, dive into barbecues, family hikes, and good quality time with the people you love. These moments ground us, reminding us of the reasons we work so hard in the first place. They help us reconnect with our core values and come back with a fresh perspective.

Besides, innovations don’t always emerge from staring at data or brainstorming in meeting rooms. Sometimes, the most groundbreaking ideas come when we least expect them – perhaps while we’re enjoying a campfire at sunset roasting some marshmallows. (And even if you don’t get that fresh idea… you’ve got roasted marshmallows!)

So, as we head into this Labor Day weekend, remember: Product roadmaps will always be there, but moments with family and friends are fleeting. Make the most of this break.

Courts will answer some of the thorniest questions about AI. As Congress and the White House talk about regulating artificial intelligence, courts might well decide some of the most economically significant questions about the booming technology first. The Wall Street Journal reports that companies selling ChatGPT-like tools face lawsuits alleging defamation, unfair business practices, copyright infringement and privacy violations. If you’re thinking of incorporating AI into your product, pay attention to these court cases.

Why take notes when AI can do it for you. If you hate taking notes during meetings but rely on them to remember what happened, Supernormal has your back. This AI powered tool automates note taking for Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams meetings. With something else taking notes, you can spend less time writing, polishing, and sharing notes and more time on the work you enjoy.

Do you wish you could do more with all the info buried in your task management tool? Socratic combines the mundane, yet essential, activity of task management with AI powered tools to help you extract insights from your work. The AI-powered project management tool combines task management flows with productivity scoring to help you keep track of work in progress and forecasting to help you establish an estimated completion data based on historical data. If you can’t get by with saying “we’ll be done when we’re done,” Socratic may help you come up with more informed projections for your delivery work.

AI can help designers with more than just graphics. Relume, a new design tool, has expanded beyond a component library for Figma to help you accomplish a variety of design tasks. It includes genAI capabilities that help you write copy and web plugins that allow designers to import components from Relume libraries into your favorite CMS.

AI will transform the products that we build – here’s how product managers can prepare. “Artificial intelligence” is a buzzword that is thrown around a lot in technology circles, often to describe products that are not very intelligent at all. However, AI has come a long way and will revolutionize many aspects of our lives. In particular, recent advances in generative artificial intelligence (Gen-AI) will disrupt how we use and interact with technology in our daily lives. Niels Goet shows why it is reasonable to believe that AI will change your job as a product manager over the next decade, and why data science literacy should become a part of your toolkit. (via Niels Goet, D.Phil.)

Maximizing the benefits of ai tools as a product manager: Unleashing 10x productivity. As technology advances, AI is becoming an increasingly integral part of various industries, including product management. Many AI tools exist for Product Managers to make most day-to-day activities easier. The time saved when using AI tools gives PMs room to focus on more strategic and high-value activities. It allows you to allocate your effort toward critical decision-making, innovation, and problem-solving. Peculiar Ediomo-Abasi explores the different AI tools available to product managers for 10X productivity at work. (via HackerNoon

AI in product management: A comprehensive guide. AI has been steadily gaining ground across various industries, transforming the way we work and interact with technology. Product management is no exception, with AI-driven applications offering new opportunities for growth and efficiency. However, integrating AI into product management also comes with its fair share of challenges. This comprehensive guide from the team at Maven explores the opportunities and challenges that product managers face in the age of AI, as well as strategies to navigate this dynamic landscape.
