Avoid these mistakes in collecting product feedback

The most significant error when it comes to gathering customer feedback for your product is the omission of collecting any feedback at all. Once you steer clear of this mistake by actively soliciting customer input, you'll encounter an array of other factors that can hinder the effectiveness of your feedback collection endeavors. Below is an overview of prevalent missteps in feedback collection and strategies to evade them.

11 Common customer feedback mistakes to avoid. Collecting customer feedback is tied to the success of your company. According to a Deloitte report, customer-centric business models are 60% more profitable. There are some fairly simple mistakes to avoid when giving customers a chance to give you feedback. If you aren't careful, chances are that you can’t get the information you need, and it could cause extra work and unnecessary expenses down the road. The team at Rapidr looks at 11 common customer feedback mistakes which affect your customer’s experience and lead to a decrease in customer loyalty.

Hacking ChatGPT with the White House

Ever wonder if your favorite chatbot has a dark side? Well, this weekend in Las Vegas, thousands of hackers are about to expose the vulnerabilities of our dear AIs (so if you’re planning a heist that involves fooling a chatbot, perhaps, postpone?).

DEF CON is hosting a hackathon aimed at artificial intelligence chat apps like ChatGPT. Yep, the very same chatbot you might've spent late nights asking, "What's the meaning of life?" or "How to cook a turkey?" (spoiler: not in a microwave). The goal? Discovering if these AIs can be manipulated into...less wholesome conversations.

Amid concerns that AI chatbots could amplify bias or even provide step-by-step apocalypse guides, tech giants and even the White House are backing this exercise, hoping it'll be more of a “Catch the flaws” and less of a “Let's end the world” type of weekend.

“Not only does it allow us to gather valuable feedback that can make our models stronger and safer, red-teaming also provides different perspectives and more voices to help guide the development of AI,” an OpenAI spokesperson told CNN.

And while some researchers have recently tricked AIs into revealing slightly alarming suggestions (plans of robots taking over the world were mentioned – seriously), tech companies assure us they're on it. But it's not all doom and gloom; the main concern isn't just about chatbot mischief, but understanding the broader implications of these AI vulnerabilities.

So as the hackers descend on Vegas, keep your fingers crossed that they come back with insights on making AI safer. And if you do plan to test ChatGPT’s limits yourself, maybe start with asking it for lasagna recipes and leave world domination for another day.

Want to redesign your product? This collection of editable Figma templates for popular apps from Figr helps you fast-track your design process. The fact that they’re editable helps you create a UI that is influenced by your favorite app (such as Notion, Instagram, or Airbnb) without directly copying them. After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Do you need a clearer picture of your research? Heptabase allows you to make sense of your learning, research, and projects. The downloadable native app is a blend of Miro and Notion that gives you a variety of ways to organize, annotate, and represent your notes so that they make more sense to you.

Not only does AI hallucinate, it may not be very secure. According to the Wall Street Journal, Generative artificial intelligence-based tools will offer workers an enormous productivity boost, but business technology leaders charged with implementing them are scrambling to understand their potential cybersecurity risks. So while it can be tempting to incorporate AI tools into your code base, don’t forget to consider potential security risks you may unwittingly introduce.

What happens when you can’t make it up in volume. After years of burning through mountains of cash to fill their catalogs with original programming, the big streaming video on demand services are now charging their subscribers more than ever because it’s increasingly difficult to draw in new customers — and because the mere perception of growth is no longer enough to keep their shareholders happy. This trend is worth watching to see if focusing on growth at all costs is a good long term pricing strategy.
