Quote of the Day |
To get out there and play with everybody again, it felt amazing…I knew [this day] would come someday. |
|
— Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who returned to the gridiron yesterday for his first regular-season action since suffering an on-field cardiac arrest in January. Not not crying. |

🏀 Got that super bass
The GIST: As was expected at the start of the season, it’ll be a battle of the WNBA superteams final, with the No. 1 Las Vegas Aces and No. 2 NY Liberty securing their champ series spots over the weekend. Only bad news is we have to wait a week for the fun to begin.
Liberty outlast No. 3 Connecticut Sun in Game 4: The seafoamers are finals-bound for the first time since 2002, after holding on to top Connecticut in an 87–84 thriller yesterday.
- Connecticut’s Alyssa Thomas returned from a scary fourth quarter injury to drop yet another triple-double, but it was former Sun star Jonquel Jones who shined the brightest, posting a WNBA record sixth consecutive postseason double-double for the Libs.
Aces sweep No. 4 Dallas Wings: With Friday’s narrow series-clinching Game 3 victory behind them, the reigning champ Aces will continue their quest to become the first squad to repeat since the LA Sparks did it 21 years ago.
- And they sealed the deal with another full house outing, as four Vegas starters dropped double digit points in the dub. Next Sunday can’t come soon enough.
🏈 Need to know: Week 4
The GIST: Not to be overshadowed by all the star power in the Big Apple for Sunday Night Football, Week 4 brought the drama with comeback wins, overtime (OT) tilts, and trick plays galore.
Sounding like a broken record: In last night’s closer-than-anticipated 23–20 win over the NY Jets, Kansas City quarterback (QB) Patrick Mahomes became the fastest QB to toss 200 touchdowns (TDs), reaching the milestone in a mere 84 games. The Man (Patrick’s Version).
Jack King of all trades: Tennessee Titans running back (RB) Derrick “King Henry” Henry dominated in yesterday’s 27–3 dismantling of the Cincinnati Bengals, running for 122 yards and a TD while also throwing for a TD in the dub. What can’t he do?
Still undefeated: Both the Philadelphia Eagles, who eked out a 34–31 OT win over the Washington Commanders, and the San Francisco 49ers, who throttled the Arizona Cardinals 35–16, maintained their unbeaten status yesterday.
Count ’em up: Bills QB Josh Allen scored five total TDs — and posted a mere four incompletions — in his Bills’ 48–20 victory against their AFC East rival, the previously undefeated Miami Dolphins. Squish the fish, indeed.
Don’t count your chickens before they hatch: Despite being up by at least 20 points, both the Chicago Bears and the LA Rams squandered their leads. The Rams roared back for a 29–23 OT dub against the lowly Indianapolis Colts, but the Bears weren’t so lucky, losing 31–28 to the Denver Broncos.
⚾ How can you not be romantic about baseball?
Baseball’s most memorable moments happen in October, and Topps wants to share them with you. It's pure magic, and the OG sports trading card maker knows just how to immortalize it.
Their flagship baseball collection captures both legends in the making and seasoned vets. In just nine days, Topps will release the Updates Series, the third and final set of their flagship 2023 collection. No better way to snag a little piece of the postseason thrill as it’s happening.
- And the timing couldn’t be better: Wild Card action begins tomorrow, so join the growing community of women in the hobby and start rippin’ into a new pack today.
