Upgrade to paid to unlock those features and support what we do. Good morning. Today we’re listening to Poranguí, a Brazilian-Chicano artist and multi-instrumentalist. Born in Brazil, he attended high school in Arizona and growing up studied music across Brazilian, Mexican, and Native Southwestern cultures.¹ He plays an incredible range of instruments, from pandeiro to flute to didgeridoo to charango. On Ayahuasca, an original score to the 2016 documentary of the same name, Poranguí plays a collection of native instruments against a backdrop of Amazon rainforest field recordings. “Iluminar” is the standout track in our opinion. We’re also playing Kuya Sessions: Cura from 2021, a collaboration with producer Liquid Bloom, which is a guided instrumental triptych featuring similar sounds as Ayahuasca. Ayahuasca - Poranguí (40m, no vocals) Kuya Sessions: Cura - Poranguí (60m, some choral vocals) We wish you a great start to your week. |
