I recently came across an interesting paper, Software Architecture as a Set of Architectural Design Decisions. The authors propose that an application would be easier to maintain if the design decisions that were made when creating it become an explicit part of the architecture. While I generally agree with their proposal what resonated with me was the idea that an architecture is a set of design decisions.


A key consequence of this definition of architecture is that architecture elements exist to solve problems. Specifically, a service is an architectural element that exists to resolve dark energy forces.

Since early this year, the news around generative AI technologies, such as ChatGPT, has been never ending. Some have even suggested that humanities existence is at stake. While there’s a massive amount of hype, there’s also a lot of potential as shown by tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot.
