Borussia Dortmund v Werder Bremen

Edin Terzić has not been without criticism this season. His decision to make Emre Can a key cog in Dormtund’s midfield has back-fired, and after two matches in the Champions League, Die Schwarz-Gelben already look extremely unlikely to make it into the knockout stages. 

However, despite some considerable setbacks, Borussia Dortmund are quietly grinding out results in the Bundesliga. Die Schwarz-Gelben are only 2 points off first place, and their last defeat in the topflight was in April - 15 Bundesliga games ago. 

It is clear then that Dortmund will be favorites when Werder Bremen visits on Friday, but history has shown that Ole Werner’s side have the potential to spark an upset. Last season, for example, Werder Bremen were trailing 2:0 in the Signal-Iduna Park before scoring 3 goals beyond the 89th minute to give Dortmund their first defeat of the season. 

A similar miracle is hard to imagine, but Werner’s side shouldn’t be completely counted out when the two teams open the matchday. Bremen have lost only 2 of their last 6 matches in Dortmund.
