The big domino, reading fiction, and when to ignore science

The Big DominoThe past few days, I’ve felt crushed under the weight of what I want to do, what I haven’t done, and all the possibilities of what I could do. Like Wile E. Coyote from Looney Tunes, the metaphorical anvil of my To Do list crushes my spirit as it grows longer by the day. It’s easy to get sucked into a state where we’re constantly trying to add more to our days without removing anything first. Our culture is obsessed with size and speed. The world around us incentivizes more, bigger, faster! Next thing you know your calendar is full, you’re time broke, and you’re doing more than ever but failing to get results. When I get caught in one of these cycles, it’s time to slow down. Stop. Reflect. Reset. I need to stop trying to do everything and instead, in true Tim Ferriss style, look for the One Thing — the Big Domino — that would make everything else irrelevant.
