As we write this email, Gaza’s Health Ministry is reporting that Israel’s attack has killed more than 8,000 Palestinians, including thousands of children. By the time this email reaches you, the number of civilians killed will almost surely be even higher. Israel has blockaded food, water, and medicine. Hospitals don’t have electricity. A near-total internet and telephone blackout left Gaza cut off from the rest of the world for days. According to many experts in international law, these are war crimes. Yet in far too much of the U.S. media, there is one dominant viewpoint represented: complete, unambiguous support for Israel. The Intercept is committed to reporting on the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as well as the U.S. dollars and diplomatic support making it possible. Will you donate $5 to help support The Intercept and our ongoing reporting on the war in Gaza? If you’ve saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: Criticism of Israel’s attack on Gaza has been widespread around the world. Experts in international law warn that it could be a genocide. Amnesty International research “points to damning evidence of war crimes in Israel’s bombing campaign.” The U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights has called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire. But in the U.S. media, such denunciations are rarely even acknowledged. Peaceful protesters against Israel’s war crimes are routinely denounced as antisemitic or terrorist supporters. The Intercept is committed to exposing injustice, cruelty, and corruption wherever we find it without toeing anyone’s party line. We will report on crimes committed by Israel as well as Hamas and the U.S.’s role in supporting Israel’s collective punishment of the civilian population of Gaza. You won’t find this kind of reporting on cable news or elsewhere in the U.S. news media. That’s why, now more than ever, we’re asking readers to support the unflinching reporting of The Intercept. Will you chip in $5? ![]() Thank you,
The Intercept team
