What to Expect

Workout classes have taken the world by storm, but why is there no equivalent of a spin class for your mind? Writing Sprints have the energy of SoulCycle, the variety of CrossFit, the intensity of Barry’s, and the camaraderie of a Spartan Race.

Stop writing alone. Join this workout class for writers and go from zero to published in one day of work. As your guide and instructor, I’ll walk you through the process for drafting, editing, and shipping a piece of writing — all in one day.

You know that feeling when you’ve just finished a tough workout — sweat is dripping, endorphins are pumping, and you’re impressed by what just accomplished? You’ll feel the exact same mix of tired and proud — but from writing.

How It Works

Stage 1: CrossFit for Writing (11 am – 1 pm ET)

You’ll workshop your idea and write your first draft in a live two-hour writing blitz. Say adios to your inner critic — working against the clock quiets your mind and gets you moving.  

Expect an eight-step process of brainstorming, idea-mapping, and getting words on the page. During these steps, you’ll workshop your emerging idea and receive feedback from peers in breakout rooms. 

Stage 2: Write and Refine (1 pm – 5 pm ET)

During the day, you’ll revise your draft. But you won’t be alone. Jump into live, 1-on-1 feedback calls with our trained editors as needed. 

Our trained team of Editors will be on hand from 2:30 pm onward to help you shape your idea and craft your best possible piece. You’re welcome to write on your own, or write alongside your peers in an always-on Writing Gym. Our team members will also be available during this time to help answer any questions.

Stage 3: Polish and Publish (5 pm – 6 pm ET)

It’s time to ship. You’ll rejoin the group for your push to the finish, making the final edits to your piece. And no last-minute panic — you’ll publish with everyone in real time, to help get you over the finish line.

Expect a short lesson, some time to re-read and revise, and one final breakout room review to get you ready to hit “Publish."
