Flow State - Gia Margaret
Flow State is made possible by our paying subscribers, who receive ad-free recommendations and get weekly Tuesday mixes. Upgrade to paid today: Sponsor Flow StateGood morning. Today we’re listening to Gia Margaret, an American singer-songwriter and producer from Chicago. She put our her debut LP, There’s Always Glimmer, in 2019, and while touring the record came down with an illness that cost her her voice.¹ While convalescing, she consumed and composed music, playing synth loops on repeat as a healing mechanism.² The result was Mia Gargaret, her 2020 ambient album that samples her own vocal exercises and Alan Watts bars. But first we’re playing her new album, Romantic Piano, a collection of mostly sparse instrumental piano and guitar pieces that evoke Nils Frahm and Olivia Belli. Margaret’s albums are on the shorter side but we’ve collected more of her work on our Flow State Today playlist on Spotify. Romantic Piano - Gia Margaret (30m, vocals on tracks 6 and 10) Mia Gargaret - Gia Margaret (30m, occasional spoken vocals) Have a great Wednesday. 1 |
