🚨 Press Alert: StackShare Introduces The Tech Stack File - The Universal Standard for Tech Stack Data to Power New AI Capabilities & Partner Ecosystem

📣 In case you didn't hear the news, we announced three new products today! First we’re excited to launch a new open source file format - The Tech Stack File (techstack.yml). Tech stack data is a mess at most companies, spreadsheets and wikis are still the norm. This makes migrations, codebase onboarding, and due diligence, all slower than they need to be.

So in collaboration with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), our goal with this new file format is to create the universal standard for tech stack data to make it easier for teams everywhere to access, share, and gain insights from their technology data.

The Tech Stack File is a single YML file that lists the entire tech stack of a Git repo, with metadata about each technology. To get your own tech stack files, install the Stack File GitHub App. Not only do you get the YML data file, but you also get a Markdown visualization file:

The files stay updated via automated PRs. Just set it and forget ✨

Protip: you can also get sample YML files from public repos by heading over to the new Tech Stack File page.

This is just the first version so there will be tons of improvements coming based on your feedback. And we're not stopping there!
