Product Collective - What the heck is innovation anyway?
Innovation in Product Management
The myth of the visionary PM innovator. While product managers drive innovation and delivering delightful products that solve customer needs, too much pressure to come up with innovative ideas can take a toll on their mental and emotional well-being. Too often, product managers feel they need to be “disruptors” or “innovators” on their own, without a clear understanding of how collaborative product innovation happens and what their specific role in collaborative product innovation should be. That's why Clement Kao wrote a guide to product innovation for PMs. (via Product Teacher)
Why innovators and product managers should talk. In a webinar hosted by Lucy Luo, Alex Osterwalder, founder and CEO of Strategyzer, and Alex Adamopoulos, founder and CEO of Emergn discussed the pressing need for coxllaboration between innovators and product managers in today's business landscape. The discussion delved into the challenges, opportunities, and strategies for enhancing innovation in organizations. (via Strategyzer)

Why innovation should be part of every step of your product life cycle. You can’t expect disruptive innovation if there’s no innovation in your process.Thomas Hoffmann uses the example of video games in the late 90s and early 2000s to explain how sometimes innovation goes beyond redefining your product to redefining your industry. Thomas explores the key facets of this approach, as well as the vital steps of product development, and how agile processes help teams respond quickly to opportunities for disruptive innovation. 'Twas the night before launch day
'Twas the night before launch day, and all through the workspace,
Not a developer was coding, not even just a trace.
The roadmaps were hung by the monitors with care,
In hopes that a flawless release soon would be there.
Product managers slept, dreams of success in their heads,
While visions of seamless rollouts spread in their stead.
And I with my laptop, with my team in a chat,
Had just braced for the sprint in one final group Slack.
When out on the socials arose such a clatter,
I sprang to my phone to see what was the matter.
Checking on X, with a swift, eager flash,
There were talks of bugs popping up – our systems would crash!
I called a swift old coder, so lively and quick,
With his long gray beard, some called him “St Nick.”
More rapid than eagles his solutions they came,
He debugged, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Debugger! now, Coder! now, Tester and Fixer!
On, Designer! on, Analyst! Planner and Mixer!
To the top of the stack! to the top of the call!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
He fixed every bug and was proud of himself.
And when he was done, he high-fived his elf on the shelf.
He sat back and smiled… his eyes twinkling so bright.
Then sent one final team message…
"Happy Launch Day to all, and to all a good night!"
