Poem-a-Day - We find each other—through poetry

Dear Reader,

Whether you turn to poetry seeking insight, comfort, or a deepened engagement with language, you know just how much it matters. As Academy Chancellor Dorianne Laux says, poems ask us to look at “what our best possible situation could be, so that we have an actual visual or aural representation of what we can work toward.” Poems prompt us to reflect on fundamental questions, helping us understand ourselves, one another, and our world.

The Academy of American Poets, as the nation’s leading champion of poets and poetry, works each day to grow the audience for this important art form. But our advocacy and our free publications and programs are only possible with your partnership. Please, if you’re able, take a moment now to support the Academy of American Poets.
This past year alone, 45,000 more readers have subscribed to Poem-a-Day; 5,500 more teachers have signed up for our free resources, including our weekly Teach This Poem series; and millions of readers continue to visit Poets.org each month, where we’ve recently added exclusive interviews with local poets laureate and poets with new books.

As a nonprofit, charitable organization, our work is made possible by poets, readers, and teachers like you who share our belief in the power of poetry.

Thank you for being a part of our efforts in the year ahead.

With appreciation,

Ricardo Alberto Maldonado
