Can you believe that 2023 is coming to a close? Some people are happy to see the year go, and others may have had some good things happen, which will make them sad to see it go.

This year was an improvement over last year, as I enjoyed my UK and Ireland trip (I finally got to see Ireland as I wanted to visit there forever).

I also got a puppy, but it was a rough start with the puppy blues, as I can finally start to enjoy him now. There were my fair share of disappointments, but even with the best of years, that is inevitable.

So, what does a tarot reader do when the year ends as a new one approaches? Of course, doing a general year-ahead tarot read is a must-do, which I just did.

What Does the 2024 Year-Ahead Tarot Reading Show For You?

Of course, this reading I am about to present is a collective reading, which means it will not necessarily be relevant to you based on your situation.

However, since it is a collective reading, it will still impact you on some level.

Here is a year-ahead spread from Tarot.com, as it is a seven-card spread. The first card lies horizontally, representing the lessons you learned from 2023.

The second card is horizontal and across from the first, representing what you can expect next year. The third card is below and on the right of the first card, representing the obstacles you will face in the year.

The fourth card is across from the third and just left and north of the second card, representing how you will harness your power.

The fifth card is on the right of the third card and the left and below the second, and it represents the lessons you learned last year.

The sixth card is across from the fifth, above the first, and on the left of the fourth, and it represents the guidance you need for 2024.

Finally, the seventh card is in the middle of the circle, with the other cards surrounding it, representing your theme for the year.

I am using my Penguin deck for this spread, and this is what I got:

Let’s pick this apart:

Card One: Ace of Rocks (Pentacles)

The first card represents lessons from the previous year, and I pulled the Ace of Pentacles.

The Ace of Pentacles represents new beginnings and opportunities in the material realm. It suggests that you had no choice but to learn the importance of grounding yourself and focusing on practical matters in the past year.

I can say that was a bitter lesson for me, as I was naive enough to accept a job in 2022, as I fell for the promises of the company and, after going through so much heartache and trauma as a good friend who was a great client, unexpectedly died.

And then, my beloved 14-year-old dog died; I lost all of my practicality in the world and relied on this company to pan out, and when I saw that it was not going to happen, it got ugly.

Well, I have beat myself up enough for it, and I still want to smack myself in the head, asking myself what was wrong with me.

Well, I am grounded now; I have learned my lesson. Never doing that again, and this company is also very slowly imploding. I would say that was one of my many Tower moments.

What made you ground yourself in 2023? Now, let’s go to the second card.

Card Two: Death

The second card shows what to expect in the next year, and I pulled Death. Well, what do you know?

I believe that 2024 will be a year of transformation and change. Expect to experience significant shifts or endings in the coming year, and I think there will be some global shakeups, which is worrisome on so many levels, but I feel that more and more people need to speak out.

The silent majority needs to stop being so silent because the loud and obnoxious minorities need silencing.

So could this be it? Yes, I think so, but it will be stressful. Anything with Death, which is all about transformation, is never easy.

Also, these major changes will be happening with Pluto finally sticking in Aquarius this time.

That also means more jobs will disappear as new AI ones take over. But that does not mean that AI will take over human power. However, roles will be changing a lot. Let’s look at the third card.

Card Three: Wheel of Fortune

The third card indicates the obstacle you’ll face next year, as I got the Wheel of Fortune.

The Wheel of Fortune represents life’s cycles of change and ups and downs. Face it: you will encounter unexpected challenges or changes that require adapting and finding balance, which is not easy to do, and that is quite fitting given the theme of the second card.

With all of these changes in the air, you will have no choice but to deal with it and adapt, and you will see that the directions in so many areas collectively will be changing as a result.

The same goes for jobs and technology, as it will continue advancing. Let’s look at the next card.

Card Four: Queen of Fire (Wands)

This card shows how to harness your inner power, and I pulled the Queen of Wands. The Queen of Wands represents confidence, passion, and leadership.

With all these changes, which will bring a lot of drama, you must dig within to embrace your creativity and determination and take charge of your path. You know that shit will not be easy, and I am preparing myself for this, too, as I am taking some new directions in the coming year.

It is great to have help around, but you are the only one who can be your own leader; you only have yourself to rely on because you cannot count on anyone else to come through.

Card Five: Ten of Wind (Swords)

This one shows what lessons you learned last year, and I pulled the Ten of Swords. This is all about endings and having no choice but to put what no longer serves you in the rearview mirror.

I know many people who have had to let go of things this year, and it is never easy, just like I did when it came to that non-existent job.

I also believe many will be challenged to eliminate bad habits and old patterns that no longer serve them.

The economy is not improving next year, and I wish I were wrong about this (maybe I am), but I intuitively don’t think things will be all that better as the cost of living will still be challenging.

So many people have had to become a lot more frugal, and I think that more people will have to get even tighter with their money next year, so they will have to let go of any spending that does not serve them.

They may have to do things like getting rid of subscriptions, traveling less, and dining out less. Some may have to cut it out entirely.

The Ten of Swords is also a reminder that even though the pandemic is over, pre-pandemic costs and times are also over, and there is no going back. Maybe eventually, but not in 2024. Let’s look at the next card.

Card Six: King of Fire (Wands)

This card is about the guidance you need for the year ahead, and I pulled the King of Wands. King of Wands is about charisma, vision, and bold action. He is the CEO.

Based on everything you are learning about what to expect in 2024, you must embrace your leadership qualities, trust your intuition, and confidently pursue your passions and what you must do to get ahead.

You know there will be challenges on a collective level, so being bold and being your leader is the way to get through it.

Even though Wands is not so much about communication as The Swords suit is, it is about passion, but passion will drive you to speak your truth and speak up against any nonsense you encounter.

Another possibility that this card may show you is that you may need to build a business, develop more side hustles, and create more income streams because you know that crap will be more expensive, and some may even lose their jobs.

Create a safety net. And create income streams that you are passionate about, as the King of Wands would want you to do. Let’s look at the final card.

Card Seven: Eight of Rocks(Pentacles)

The final card shows your theme for 2024, and I pulled the Eight of Pentacles. You are going to work, and work is the theme for this year. This card is all about dedication, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.

Your theme focuses on honing your skills, learning, and making the necessary effort to achieve your goals so you can adapt to all of the changes and prepare yourself as best as you can.

The interesting thing is that numerologically, 2024 is an eight-year, which is one about power and karma, and you can even say money, and based on the bold stuff to expect, it is all fitting.

It will not be easy, and I would be lying if I said it was, but if you can put in your all, you will achieve a lot.

Again, this will only affect you collectively, influencing your decisions and actions next year.
