A while back, the team behind popular social media scheduling tool Typefully decided to sunset their free plan.

It's always a hard choice.
It feels like you're yanking something out of someone's hands and then asking to pay.
But free users are costly to support and can take up a huge amount of time in customer support.
They may be causing your sales model to be under-monetized. If a large portion of your free user base has a high propensity to pay, then you're leaving money on the table.
In the end, it was a great decision for the Typefully crew.
Revenue steadily increased from there on out and they were able to focus strictly on paid customers.
